What is the procedure for diagnosis? Want to know what im getting in to.

Hi

I am alymie but symptoms seem like MS.

If I were to go to a neurologist what kind of tests would I expect?

I have heard there is or are drugs that can slow progression of this disease.

I HATE doctors,I am sure there are wonderful ones but going to a Dr.is anathemia to me.

I have been putting it off (going to dr.)for a long time. Legs are getting worse, memory not so good.  Holding phone can hurt and turn hand numb with crooked pinkie.   

the thing is my back hurts.  I have never heard of this with MS.

It's going to be hard to find out what's going on with you since you have Lyme disease. MS is a diagnosis of exclusion. They need to rule out everything else that could be causing your symptoms.

You will need to find a neurologist. An MS specialist might be the best way to go. I'm not sure there's such thing as an LLMD neurologist. You can ask on the Lyme board.

The routine tests are: a full neurological exam, an MRI for at least the brain if not the spine, a lumbar puncture with blood work, evoked potentials and a history of specific episodes or attacks separated by time.

Hopefully what you are experiencing is Lyme and you'll be able to get it successfully treated. Best of luck!
