dying of scar tissue

I am dying of scar tissue and they do not know what to do! I shoiuld not have had the imaging test today to see if there was a narriwing behind the stenosed stoima. With the needed drain tube!

I thought it over for a full hiur after i got there. The contrast was oral omnipque (sort of an iodine cocktail). GAve me severe diarrhea and i severely dehydrated. Bag after bag filled. I was unable to urinate from 7 this morning until 4 this afternoon, then only a bit. I was lightheaded. Had a private paid nurse with me for $95 per hour all day. We both wanted to avert the ER and an iv due to my collapsed veins. She left at 4 this pm. Since then i have only urinated 500 cc's a bit at a time despite drinking a total of 4 quarts of liquid gatorade and water. Thankfully it is picking up some.

A resident called me and said my image test was finwe and that my stoma is not stenosed. Nothing but clear lquids pass and that is with the neded drain tube. My stoma bled some late in the day and is enlarged from all the irritation. I just layed on my right side as the cyrrent effluent is not passing. Got it going a bit. The radiologist aaid that my stomach is way down in my pelvis. So he had me lie on my right side ro get the contrast thru.

The office visit note of the other day where my stoma was fiund to be tight and it sure felt it, was later modified 12 hours later that says it is only angulated. NO MENTION. Of the needed drain tube! WTH! My visit notes are all now saying i am very worried, well yeah!

I am dying of scar tissue and now dehyration. And it is being brushed off as i am not eating. Feeling nausea from all i have drunk. As instructed. This is fatal. So weak and in pain. Have some consults arranged but may not make it. ESOR

The resident said wait it out as they do not qwant to take chance on apicc line infection (for their safety) not mine. I am last with them as things have turned badly here. Yoy are getting the care you need. I am not. I cannot eat at all let alone nigh t prior to the test. This is not normal care. They are leaving me to die and writing it up as i don't eat of my own choice. Thry no longer admit that i have a stenosed stoma (tho i need th drain tube). Highly political over here. Good luck. Your response to the small bowel follow-through study that you had yesterday sounds typical, not atypical. The contrast has a nuclear laxative effect.

Also, it is typical during the procedure that the radiologist contorts your body into different positions as they follow the flow of the contrast through the small intestine on fluoroscope.

That you had output (significant) from the study is a good/encouraging finding.

Due to a complicated intestinal history of my own, I subsist on a liquid diet. Small 2-3 oz. portions at a time. It is doable. You can puree almost any food and add additional liquid (broth, water, milk, soy, juice) to thin the consistency further.

Parental nutrition has inherent risks of its own. Although the formulation is individually calculated, the "chemical cocktail" is taxing to the liver and pancreas. Elevated liver enzymes and induced diabetes are not uncommon.

Perhaps you can add in a single food item at a time in a small quantity. I have come to learn that I am my own best teacher/advisor in what I can eat/tolerate.

I am continually amazed at the healing abilities of the body. Although you are seeking additional surgical consultations, remember that additional surgery = additional trauma = additional inflammation = additional scarring.

Nurture your mental/emotional well-being. The mind/body connection is real. Our mental/emotional well-being influences our physical well-being and vice versa.

Rosemary in Australia if you present at emergency with any symptoms you have to be investigated and treated, you cannot be refused to be treated if they find nothing wrong and you are discharged then you are still able to return again and again untill you are satisfied.
I do not understand how they can refuse to treat you maybe American system works differently .

I am starting tpn today for four days and am being investigated for some kidney condition that I didn't catch name of as the cause of my magnesium deficiency .
Hoping you are a little better today , my output is still fairly watery but not as frequent as yesterday , it's good to have a good wash out !

Rosemary, I'm so sorry that you are going through all this crappy stuff, I know how pain can be very hard to deal with, I really hope that you are able to find something that will help you!

Rosemary my veins are shot as well that's why the picc is in my arm
Sort of near what used to be my muscle now just bone with skin covering it .

yes they can last much longer. i think about 3months. I had my last one in for about 6weeks.

They told me my picc can stay in for up to six months unless a problem arises it'll be fine for that amount of time , so much easier than poking around trying to find avein
