Stoma vs cats who like to settle on your belly

No this isnt a lolcat video- but we have a couple of cats and as cat lovers will know all too well, cats love settling down (trodding) and then lyng on the belly or pelvis of "their" human when they get the chance eg their human keels over on the sofa. For the cat lovers out there, what do you do to protect your stoma- just always out a cushion over it whenever you flop down to take a nap? I guess this could apply to some dogs too.

Oh my dog Sam used to do that. I miss it! We lost him two years ago, he was 15. I miss our "couch snuggles".

That was before my surgery but I noticed that he was more gentle when my Crohn's was flaring.....if that's possible.

My cat does that but I just put my hand over my stoma while she walks and then once she's settled down, I move my hand.

Both of mine do that. One likes to settle down on my tummy as we're going to sleep. She instinctively seems to know to settle down on my left side rather than on my stoma.

On the odd occasion they do happen to step on my stoma, no harm done. They're off it in a couple of seconds lol
