Reliable waterproof tape

It's almost spring and I'm in the market for some good waterproof tape, or something of the like. I always feel more comfortable swimming when I'm taped up/sealed in some way, but thus far I've never found tape that works well for me. It's all usually too rigid, won't conform to my body, or just plain isn't as waterproof as it's made out to be.

I remember in the first months after getting my ostomy in 2012 the the WOCN at Mayo Clinic gave me some really good waterproof tape. It had latex in it, which I guess makes it better. I've only ever been able to find tape that is latex-free and it never really holds long. I know some of you ostomy veterans can give me some good advice on how to seal up when in the water! :)

I have been told to use hytape (it's orange/pinkish in color). I haven't been able to go swimming since getting my stoma (open sores they want me to avoid getting in pool water) - so I can't speak to it.

Hiya!

At work we use Leukoplast Waterproof Pink Tape.

There are lots of products you could use other than pink tape as well. Coloplast makes elastic half moon tapes that are SUPER sticky and they hold down your flange. You can keep them on for days. If you call them they will send you samples. I'm sure all the manufacturers will send you samples of their similar products as well :)

HiI went abroad last August and swam everyday either in the pool or the sea I used the Brava strips they are half moon shape and very waterproof and move with your body my bag never moved all day long. Maybe worth a try x

Awesome! I'll order some of the Bravas the next time I order supplies. I think I remember using something similar to those when I was still using Hollister products. Theirs didn't work so well, though.

I am a Sure Seal fan...it's not a tape but a waterproof/breathable membrane you put over your wafer. There is a learning curve to it but I think I have been using it for at least 5 years and wouldn't use anything else. (I even put a piece over my filter and the filter actually works!)

If your insurance doesn't cover the expense I recommend finding them (or any product they don't pay for) online at one of the cheaper medical supply stores that do not accept insurance...MUCH cheaper than getting them from my regular supply even when I pay for shipping!!!
