wacky digestion

Hey folks! This might be a foolish question, but did any of you notice that your digestion had been really strange right after surgery? I eat, I'm hungry, but I find my stomach grumbling & rumbling pretty loudly, I feel gas moving around inside, before it comes thru the stoma... every aspect of the digestive process seems enhanced. I'm guessing it's due to my new inner plumbing, my body just getting used to it. My stoma has settled down into a fairly decent routine- I do empty in the middle of the night, sometimes, but it's not even 100% necessary. Things are still going pretty slow, re. transit time. Which is not a bad thing, as it's a good consistency- I'm not constipated, let's put it that way!

It will pass, it is very normal in the first weeks up to first 2 months or so after surgery. I had tons of that gas and cramp stuff the first few weeks. Nowadays i can eat whatever I want, pig out on a huge meal, etc just like I did pre-UC if I like, no issues whatsoever. about the only stuff that I havent tried yet are things like oranges and other raw citrus fruit because of all that pulp. But I can wolf down tomatoes, nuts, salad, all sorts of stuff with no issues now, a year since surgery.

You are not even two weeks out if surgery so I would remain very cautious at this stage and certainly dont be phased by the gas and cramps as your new plumbing sorts itself out-- that takes a while.
