Lol yeah NCOT is right, go back and see my old threads about
a year and a half ago as this was perhaps my biggest pre-surgery obsession. As it turned out, wearing formal work pants / suit pants, my stoma ended up the way I badly wanted it, below the beltline. It works fantastic with my work pants that are not low rise, as even a fairly full pouch is not visible at all there. For low rise pants as is the fashion for most casual wear now, eg jeans, the beltline often still ends up at or lower than my stoma. A key for me in both cases though has been ostomy secrets mens boxers. They create a nice smooth layer that snugly spreads pressure on the pouch and prevents the beltline from bothering my stoma or filling of the pouch. For pants that I wear above the beltline, I get and use pants with some elastic stretch in the beltline so that a belt is worn more for show if anything and the pants will hold comfortably without any need for a tight belt or suspenders.
For all pants, I now like to wear a looser fit than I used to pre surgery (about
1 inch looser if I had to guess, but I was never into wearing super tight pants- if I had been a super tight fit hipster than I would be wearing 1-1/2" looser pants) , just in case it rides right over or lower than the stoma. Combined with wearing the ostomy secrets boxers in a snug but comfy size, this allows my pouch to fill, and fill evenly, regardless of where the beltline sits. But I try and ensure my pantline sits either higher or lower than that beltline. I have never done the pouch hanging out over my pants thing when out, but obviously if one can wear casual clothes on the job that would be an option too.
