Hi. I'm scheduled for my take down surgery in a couple weeks. My surgeon is in a city an hour and a half from where I live. For the last surgery, my spouse and I stayed in a hotel for a couple days after I was discharged from the hospital. This was good for 2 reasons:
1) Every bump in the road hurt so much that I would not have been comfortable on the drive home. The extra 2 days to get a little more comfortable helped.
2) I was afraid of getting home and having a complication. It was good to be close to my surgical team until I could see that I'd be ok at home.
I know the reconnection surgery is a lot less serious as surgeries go, but I still want to stay close to the hospital for a night or two. The thing I'm worried about though is whether I will be able to be comfortable in a hotel. It's a nice hotel but it's not home.
I'll bring some pads to protect the bed and I'll have my own TP and creams but what else would I want from home?
My husbands says he will get pasta, bananas, peanut butter crackers, and eggs for me to eat. I won't need to go anywhere.
Thoughts? Thanks so much! I'm nervous about this next surgery but there's no turning back now! :)
