Stomaversary.....aka: Surgerversary

I know it has been a while since I've posted, but I do still lurk around here quite often, and chime in when I feel like I have something useful to contribute. But, I knew if there was any group of people that would appreciate today like I do....it would be here. Today is 4 years since the day I had (most) of my proctocolectomy with end ileostomy!!! I continue to thrive, and have never once questioned the decision that I made over 4 years ago. My ileostomy holds me back in NO way whatsoever, and has helped bring me back to a level of health that would've been super tough to achieve any other way. As always, I am very happy to answer any questions anyone ever has for me. I hope everyone is having a great day!

I am so glad you posted. More people need to be aware that an Ostomy can improve your quality of l life.

I had a colostomy 09/2016. My doctor told me it is what you make it.

Congratulations also. It's been 10 1/2 years since I had my ileostomy done and, like you, am enjoying the best years of my life.

Like you, I haven't posted in a while, so thought I would check in for a bit. This post caught my eye.

So happy things are going well for you. I think about the ones who were here back when I came here more often, and wonder and HOPE everyone is doing well and is off enjoying life.

I am another very happy ostomate. I am well and very pleased with my decision to "cut to the chase" and "just do it." It will be 6 years for me this coming July.

Just yesterday I returned from NYC with my granddaughter's HS choir trip. This is the second time I was able to go to NYC in the last year, a dream I've had my entire life. There is no way I would ever have been able to do this, during my other life with my colon. Such a blessing to be able to sit entirely through Broadway plays, with only standing to stretch my legs during intermission and NO bathroom runs.
