illeostomy and pancreatitis

I have had an illeostomy for 50 years and have developed in the last three years, stones in the
pancreas duct. This seems to be an ongoing thing. Has anyone else had these sort of problems and
what have you done to correct or prevent more stones?

Not exactly the same situation as yours, but I had pancreatitis about 5-6 months before I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. The only reason they could find that might have caused it was some sludge in my galbladder that could have been backwashing into the pancreatic duct....and that can cause lots of problems.

If they are telling you there are stones in your pancreatic duct, I would think they are talking about galstones. As far as I know, the only way to get rid of those is to have the galbladder removed. That could be worth considering because pancreatitis is NO fun!

No, the stones are in the pancreas duct. They are totally different from gall stones. I just had my gall bladder removed in March of this year due to problems there.

If you study an anatomy chart you will see that the commom bile duct empties into the doudenum at the same place the pancreas duct does.

You are right about pancreatitus being no fun! I have been in for procedure for ERCP some 12 times, and a number of those times I had symptoms that put me in the hosptial with serious pain. What I am looking for is any info about what could be causing these stones to form in my pancreas duct. This last one is 7 mm

What meds are you on? I had problems with my pancreas when I took 6MP. After my operation, I was able to get off that darn drug and have been fine since 2010.

Just was diagnosed this past weekend. I had surgery for CD and now they found I have chronic pancreatitis and stones in the tail end of the pancreas where they can't get at them. They are calcium stones, so the only thing I can think of preventing calcium stones no matter where they are, is magnesium but read up about it, there is plenty of info on it. As for the ones we already have, not sure if there is anything, but who knows maybe the body will dissolve them on it's own? or if they are in a wider part of the pancreas, they can be surgically removed.
