Swimming with a bag

Is there any way to protect a bag when swimming? (I change a bag every three days and don't want to submerge it in water during this time)

Hi Murzik, I swim all the time with no issues, but I guess it depends on what product you are using. I tried using a gallon zip top bag and pink tape when we went to the beach but moisture accumulated in the bag so i just went in without it. I swim a lot at home and don't have any real issues with the seal coming loose.
But you might want to look at Ostomy Essential Flange Seal ring. It seals the tape portion of the flange to prevent it from coming loose.

Thank you but I am using Coloplast Sen Sura Mio and Brava Protective seal. But even in your case, the bag becomes all wet, right? I am looking for some kind of underware, to protect the entire area from getting wet.

Yes, the bag gets wet. It's not underwear but I think there is a shower bag product out there that you could use to keep it dry.

When I had an ileostomy I used the same type of bag as you do. I took baths in a bathtub almost daily, and also swam in a pool from time to time. Never had any problems. I changed bag about every 2-3 days.

Are you afraid of it coming off, or is there any other reason you don't want it to get wet?

Have you ever tried press and seal? It sticks to your body. It's in with the saran wraps.

I use an Ostomy Secret wrap when swimming for extra support. 😎

To Rchodos:

1. When using "Ostomy Secret wrap" don't you afraid to squash your bag and make it leak? The pocket for the bag is inside, not outside of the wrap.
2. The bag will be still wet, right? Do you have to stay on sun to dry it? It will take hours....

Living in Florida, I swim almost daily. I either wear an Ostomy Secret wrap, and, yes, the pouch goes inside and, yes, it gets wet as does the bathing suit or I wear a stealth belt with the same result. Once home and I shower, I use a hairdryer or towel to dry the pouch. 😎🌴
