this is a bad week!

Yep gotta save sanity some how. Lordy. I did not tell you about the time I got locked in a psych ward for 5 hours at a premier hospital who was trying to figure out my damages of my pelvic floor surgery. Large and small bowel basically all scarred shut. My "nurse" in the psyche ward wore, leather, chains and skull ear rings. I kid you not. The psychiatrist was very nice and profusely apologized and said get your clothes and run. I did. That was enroute to getting the lysis of dense adhesions and the ileostomy which saved my life, so far anyway. As I was so severely internally scarred from the "pelvic floor restoration surgery" I had massive adhesions choking off everything. Small bowel obstructions, unable to pass anything through my rectum which was narrowed to 4 mm diameter. My PCP of the time wrote me up as having Munchausens Disease (liking to be hurt by docs so I could see more docs). NOT! THEN there was the ER nurse who on my 4th small bowel obstruction prior to my finding help said "YOU AGAIN!!!!" I said, Yeah, I cannot put in my own NG tube so thought I'd drop in. She got sent home.

SO FAR so good and it's been 4.5 years since the needed lysis of adhesions and ileo but I am literally on borrowed time. So am traveling a LOT. BUT, the idea of reobstructing is just like living with my head in a guillotine, when will the ax fall? BUT, can't sit about worrying or that would be a waste of the time I was lucky enough to be given. BUT it is unreal how patients can be treated. As though we aren't already in enough trouble. Leah and I texted yesterday, and she seems to be doing better now that she's getting pain medicine. They are allowing her to have ice chips and suck on peppermint hard candy. Hopefully, she'll be able to start on clear liquids today, because she says she is really hungry. Hopefully, she'll post more details today.

Very good news. Any time you'd hungry after surgery is a great indicator.

Good for you Summer. When you're up to it, tell us what they had to do. Could they untwist the small intestine through the stoma, or did they have to open you or could they do it lap? Soooo glad that you are better. Sounds like they knew what they were doing (EXCEPT for the pain management part....first non working pain pump then some crazy pain drugs?? whoo hoo at least you are on your way outta there Best wishes, Rosemary
