No more reading on the throne

As I was empty my bag this morning, I realized that I no longer had that stack of magazines on the vaniety to help me pass the time when the UC held me prisoner in the bathroom.  Now, there is no toilet time for reading and I don't miss it a bit because it means no more awful UC.  Just another reminder of how my life is changing......for the better all the time.

Hi desertsun,

I see by your info that you and I have similar backgrounds. We're not very far apart in age, same DX, procedures, etc. Except that I was diagnosed in 1986 and had the procedure last year! Long time to go with UC.

ANYWAY, yes I have to admit, I did a LOT of reading on the ol' throne because of the UC. It was a constant battle with my wife over the stack of books and mags in the bathroom. That's one less thing we lock horns over now. LOL!

Unfortunately, I do a lot less reading now, which is kind of a bad thing. But you're right, it beats dealing with UC, or in my case, basically DYING from UC!

That is so funny you posted that! I said the same thing to my husband yesterday.....he commented how fast I was in the bathroom now since my surgery. I don't miss the pain and frequency from my rotten colon but I do miss my books!!!!

Actually, I am reading alot more these days but only because I love to read and during this recovery I have lots of time to read.  Just not in the bathroom. 

I'm like in and out in about 5 minutes except when I have a bag change.  Then its about 15 minutes.

I used to cut and file my fingernails on the toilet. I'm not much of a reader,lol. So after I had surgery I had to take time out of my day and do it. I didn't mind though!

I used to have a magazine rack in there .... moved it, no need anymore.

Haha, yes reading... and the Scrabble app on my phone. Same for me - No more sitting around on the toilet. Yay for returned health!! :-)
