Hollister pouches lately..anyone else having probs?

I use Hollister 18182 pouches...new image drainable. Anyone else having trouble with these lately at the tail end? It's like their machine isn't centering the tail, so on one side there's hardly any material, and after several opening and closings, it doesn't hold together and the seam starts to open. Weartime has gone from 4 days to 2-3. I've bought two different boxes from two different stores in two different cities and same SH!T. One box had hardly any material on the L/H side, the other box it was the R/H side....

anyways, I was wondering if anyone else noticed this or if I'm just the lucky one to get two in a row....this stuff is getting expensive...

Can you call them and have them replace them???

I used to use a Hollister pouch and I had to change to another one because it leaked easily for some reason. I'd also have to change it every 2 days. It was a pain because my pants and pajamas would be all messed up. Ugh. I now use Convatec. Much much better and it holds for 4-5 days.

I just switched from convatec to the two piece Hollister New Image system. I got a huge rash from the convatec. I love Hollister's moldable wafer but am not crazy about the bags.

First of all, they only have a small or very large one. The small one is too small and the large one is too large. I also dont like emptying it. The convatec had the back flap thing that made it easier and cleaner to empty. The Hollister is really hard to empty and I have to shove half a roll of toilet paper inside to get it sort of clean, then I feel like the bottom sort of leaks anyway.

Matt, to answer your question, I haven't noticed any difference in distribution on the left vs. right side. HOwever, I am very new to this ileostomy thing, just had it done 4 weeks ago.

I had a bad box of Hollister bags once. They broke on the first day! I did this three days in a row before I decided that it was a bad box. After three consecutive days of messes (one of them in a WalMart!), I called them and they immediately sent me a new box to replace it. Complain and they will make it right.

     I HATE HOLLISTER!!!  They started me on them in the hospital.  My ostomy nurse was very informative and told me about the other pouches that were available.  Well, I had two Hollister bags break on me.  The first time was about a month post op and my hubby and I were at the Borgata Comedy Club in Atlantic City.  I didn't even realize my bag had broken.  I went to the ladies room after the show and knew as soon as I stood up that something was not right.  Thank GOD I had on black slacks because the side seam on the bag had broken and all the poo was oozing out....ugh.  Good thing I had eaten a bunch of Wintergreen mints..lol.  That is what it smelled like...lololol.  Anyway, I was able to clean myself up pretty well, stuff the bag with toilet tissue and beeline it out of the casino.  The second time the bag broke we were home and it wasn't too full either.  That is when I switched to the Coloplast Sensura one piece.  They work like a charm.  Not a one ever broke on me and believe me, sometimes I get wrapped up in what I am doing and forget to dump when I should.  Try the Coloplast.

Hi Matt, I've been using Hollister since 2000, new image drainable, and have also run in to this problem. However, what I have discovered is that it depends upon your supplier. For instance, if I order my pouches through one of the local pharmacies then I seem to get the defected pouches but since I've been ordering from Edgepark the pouches have all been nearly perfect. Weird huh. I would maybe try calling Hollister and ask if they will exchange them for you and maybe look for another supplier too.

     Sunee...I always did my ordering through Edgepark and still received the faulty Hollister bags.  I think they need to get their act together.

I've been using the Hollister two piece system along with Eakin seals for more than six years. Seven day wear time is routine for me. I think they're great.

I also think they're great. I've used the other brands and really don't like them. I think Hollister is BY FAR the easiest to empty, but I guess that just shows why they say "to each his own." We all have different preferences and different things we're looking for.

I'd also call Hollister and ask them to replace. if they want to keep you as a customer I'd think they'd be more than happy to accommodate.

Call them...they should replace the 2 boxes.
