How do you fix a leak at work?

I had my first mishap at work. Luckily it was about time to leave. The barrier openat the bottom and I had poo all over the back of my bag and it stained my undies as well!  Of course we have multiple stall bathrooms with a common sink area.  All I could do is used dry toliet paper to clean up what I could and I had some barrier strips in my purse to tempoary fix the leak.

Now what would happen if it was so bad that I needed to change my bag right then and there? Anybody have any tips on how to do this in public bathrooms? 

In the meantime I have put together an "emergency kit" to be stored at my desk. The only thing I don't have is access to water for cleaning!

Any ideas will be appreciated!

I worry about using baby wipes as they have lotions in it and I was told that interfers with the barrier. I have some ivory soap..but no water!

Guess I can always wet a paper towel and bring in into the stall...that's all I can think of!

What subzero describes in her kit is more or less the same as what I carried with me in a zippered bag -- at all times. I remember doing changes in the bathroom at work, in a restaurant bathroom, a train station bathroom, and at a friend's apartment during a dinner party. I got very fast and good at it.

To your kit I would add a small squirt bottle, or a half-liter plastic bottle. You fill it with water at the bathroom sink before you go into a stall, and then you can pour it onto toilet paper for cleaning. I also had a small manicure scissor, just in case I needed to cut the opening. Every day I carried enough gear for two changes.
I remember arriving at work knowing I needed to change the bag fast. I went into a stall, took off my coat, stocking and shoes and everything so that I was standing there naked from the waist down. I got all my gear ready on the toilet seat cover, took off the bag with lots of ready gauze wipes (if my stoma was outputting then I would have needed to keep holding the wipes beneath the stoma until it stopped. Then I cleaned the skin with water, dried, powdered, and did a normal change like at home. The main thing was just to treat it as a practical matter.
I also had a change of underwear and pantyhose in my kit. I never carried a change of clothes and luckily things never went that far. I also worked an hour and 20 minutes by trains and trams away from home, so I was very lucky.

I like the Safe and Simple peristoma wipes. Fortunately I haven't had a leak in a very long time, but they are good for cleaning up when not much water is available.

I still carry a kit with me in my bag.... the last two times I've used it was when I forgot to pack underwear going to the pool...

I keep a little pump spray bottle in my kit that I got at the Dollar Tree.  Like B'Dereh mentioned, it can be filled at the sink before going into the stall. 

I have never had to use it while out, but I use one at home to dampen a fold of TP to clean the end of my pouch when I empty.   We have a septic system and even flushable wipes scare me.  The dampened TP works great.

In my kit, I also keep a couple full-sized feminine pads and waterproof [pink] tape or Opsite Flexifix tape.  If there is a leak, the pads can be taped around the flange and will absorb some of the liquid until you can do a full change.

     Peace....what bags are you using?  I had two Hollister bags break on me.  I switched over to Coloplast Sensura and they are MUCH better.

Yes one of those little dollar store bottles would be great for a water supply source in a public restroom if a handicapped stall is not available for use.

I went on ebay and I bought 1/2 ounce eye dropper type plastic bottles - I put stomahesive powder in one and medicated powder in another. I also got one ounce pump spray bottles to put his skin barrier protective spray in. These down size containers are perfect for his travel ostomy supply travel kit to have these items on hand if they are needed when away from home and you do not need to pack the full size bottles.

We aregoing on a cruise and aside from the wafers/pouches all his supplies fit in a dollar plastic pencil case I got at WalMart awhile back. Plus I keep an emergency wafer in my purse, with a few wipes, clean soft paper towel and disposable bag for a quick change.

Fortunately he has only had the signs of a leak twice at home in the past 2 years so he didn't have to do anything in a public restroom (yet).

In the beginning my husband received 2 different canvas bags to put travel type supplies in. The one from ConvaTec is a navy canvas bag it is about 9'x7" when closed. The neat thing is when you unzip it in the front....the front opens up to reveal all the inner contents and has a little black hangar type attachment on the top center so you can hook it over a stall and have all the contents easily visible. The Customer Interaction Center #1-800-422-8811 is imprinted on the inside. It has 2 separate compartments the width of the bag and then two 1/2 size mesh compartments in front.

This could fit easily in a large woman's purse.

I wonder if you could try to get one from them as it sounds like what you need and could use for work.

I have taken this a few times when we went on trips to put in a beach bag etc if he got caught short and needed to use a rest room that would probably in some places have very little modern conveniences.

     How are you coming along Peace?  Any more issues?  Right now I have a nasty irritation where the adhesive sticks to my skin, the outer part of the bag.  It was itchy, so like a dum dum while watching tv last night, I was scratching at it .  OMG...today it is sooooo irritated, red and oozing a bit of pus.  I put antibiotic cream on it and Calmoseptine.  I had to change my bag this morning too.  Just my luck, of course it doesn't stick too well because of all the gunk I put on it.  Oh well, live and learn.
