High Blood Pressure with an Ileostomy

My mom had an ileostomy about 35 years ago. She has high blood pressure. Unbeknownst to her at the time, they switched her to Diovan HCT which has a diuretic. It looks like the regular Diovan is still available. So, we might pursue that again. Although, so many meds (Azor?) in the past have zapped her energy, it's difficult to know what to try since most medical personnel are not knowledgeable about the special needs for ileostomates.

In the meantime, does anyone else have high blood pressure and what bp medicine do you find effective? It is difficult keeping up a salt intake, finding something that dissolves easily and something that does not have a diuretic.

Thank you very much, I will mention this to my mom. She might have higher blood pressure than what you mentioned, but we will check it out.

Had also forgotten to mention that she's allergic to Sulfa drugs...which limits the drugs she can take.
