I had half of my colon and all but about 1/4 inch of my rectum removed 3 months ago due to Crohn's complications that caused abcesses. I now have a permanent colostomy and have to go back to have the rest of the rectal tissue removed sometime in the future. I was recovering very well the first weeks and hopeful that I would be back to feeling great again soon. The problem that remains is that I have developed pain and pressure in the rectal cavity that I thought at first was phantom rectum feelings, which would subside. But the feeling has gotten more intense and it has become very painful. I was on a vacation the past two weeks and had to come home early due to the discomfort and I am still taking pain medication 3 months after surgery. Has anyone else had to deal with this? How long does it last and is there any way to ease the discomfort? Can it be caused by something else that has gone wrong since the surgery?
