Eaken seals

I am new to this site but I have had many questions since my surgery
1 1/2 yrs ago. I ended up with a surprise colostomy. The closest E.T. Nurse is 2 hrs away and too busy to talk to me on the phone so I'm hoping I might get an answer here? I have tried a few different pouches using the eaken seal which I truly like. So I am wondering if it can be used with or is it necessary to be used with Convatec Surfit Natura drainable 2 pce ( with wafer flexible collar). I am just trying these since I have booked a flight next week and hoped they would be easier to empty in a public bathroom. I will truly appreciate any advice & I promise not to write such a long saga next time!

You can absolutely use eakin seals with any of the convatec line. Eakin seals are actually a Convatec product. I have both the Coloplast Sensura line product and the Convatec Natura line (The moldable wafers and pre-cuts) and have used eakins with all.

Personally when I do use the moldable stuff by Convatec I don't use the rings. I don't have a problem with leakage and the actual flanges by Convatec "swell" to create a turtleneck and good seal around your stoma. I only use seals when I cut the wafer to create that same seal the moldable rings do on their own. Everyone is different but thats just me. Oh and the white tape area will get jelly like when it gets wet, don't worry when you get out of the shower just dry it and press it back to where you want it (if it peeled back) and it'll be good as new.
