first Mio leak

It was on Day 6 though, so I suppose that barely counts as a leak! I put a new Mio on last Wedneseday PM, & planned to change everything either tomorrow or the next day, if it held up. So I'm going about my business this AM, getting breakfast, etc. when I get the "smell"... glance down, & sure enough, output is oozing out from underneath the wafer edge. Ah well, no big deal- an unexpected bag change. I put on my trusty old Hollister Flextend & that was that. One thing I don't like about the 1 piece deals is that when the output pancakes up at the top, there's no good way to get it down into the bag- with a 2 piece, I often take the whole bag off, wipe things down, then snap it back on. And I always shower with just the wafer, no bag, which cleans any "stuck" output from the stoma. I like the low profile of the 1 piece, but prefer the ease & cleanliness of the 2 piece. Still plan to switch between the 2, Mio & Hollister.

yup, I use Eakin seals all the time- I first tried one right after surgery, when I had a tiny spot of skin irritation. the irritation cleared right up, & I just kept using them. I use the slims, the thinner ones. I figure if I do get a leak, the seal will prevent much output from actually hitting skin. And yes, I pretty much shower with just the wafer allt het ime- it does nothing to shorten wear time, surprisingly. And it feels nicer, it's like a totally clean stoma & wafer. I still get 6-7 days with a Hollister Flextend, & can count on 5-6 with a Mio. I do put on a fresh bag after my shower- I only shower 3-4x a week, so I usually get 2 bags to every 1 wafer. Aren't the 2 piece Mio's an adhesive coupling? Or do they have those plastic-y clip ring things? Whch seem so bulky to me... Maybe I'll ask for a sample of the Mio 2 piece, give it a go. Or just if I use Mio, plan on changing at day 4-5. Which is still pretty good, considering!

I'm sort of embarassed to ask for MORE samples... I've asked about 3x for Mio samples! I do use a small opening, I cut the wafer at the very first dotted line. I suppose Coloplast will be more than happy to send me more free stuff... I do like the overall feel of the Mio.

Eva Lou, if you order pre-cuts of the Mio 2 piece, the wafers are much smaller. I don't know why. I was upset about it at first because I was used to the larger wafer...but I really like the smaller one now.

Tell John (is he your guy too?) that you want to try a pre-cut two piece and to send you an assortment of sizes.

so just sayin', I had a glass (or 2) of wine, & got over my embarassment about asking for MORE free samples- called my Coloplast person, I forget her name, but it's not John!, & am eagerly awaiting my Mio 2 piece click closure samples! They seem sort of hard to figure out- are they??? Is it like a spring loaded clip deal, or what? I think I'm going to like these... they are cut to fit, I prefer that, cause seriously- my stoma still gets big, then small. I always cut the same, just use an Eakin to fill in any gaps. My big issue with the 1 piece was not being able to manually (???) clean the output from the top of the bag, stoma, etc. Now, I can! I'm due for a change come Tues. PM or Wed. AM, & hope to get the new Mios before then. If not, it's Hollister & Calamine/Calmoseptine all the wyaay.
