Holy Q Moly..if it weren't for your statement about
having a 4th stoma, I would swear I was reading one of my posts. YES, I bleed from my vagina every darn time my colorectal surgeon digs into my anus. YES, my surgeon (not the one I am now seeing. The operating surgeon retired in 2013), took my rectum and colon but left the anus. His explanation was that there are more complications when the anus is removed. Who knows? I had my operation in 2010 and in 2014 started to feel pressure inside the anus. I had several biopsies, which they recommend when the anus is left, all negative for dysplasia and cancer, however the disease is back inside the anus. OK...because of the bleeding from the vagina, which is only occasional spotting, they THINK I may have a tiny fistula inside that rectal cuff somewhere. I can't tell you how many different tests I have had...MRI's, CT scans, xrays, Transvaginal ultrasounds and then some kind of test where they inserted a catheter into my vagina and injected a dye...nada. For the time being, my surgeon said to leave well enough alone. I will be 70 in August, so I have no idea what he means for "the time being". Maybe he hopes I will croak of something else down the line and leave him off the hook. OH...and it does hurt like the dickens every time he probes around in there because I now have strictures in there. I never did before, and I suffered with ulcerative proctitis from 1998 until my operation in 2010. I believe the strictures are caused by all that trauma, biopsies and probing around in there. I am supposed to go back for another exam on August 17th, a three month exam, but, if he only wants to do biopsies every two years, then I am not due until November of 2017...so...I am going to tell him, unless he is trying to discover a gold mine up my butt, to leave well enough alone. Good luck to you!!!!!
