I agree with keeping things simple - the less products you use the quicker & easier a change is!
I change my bag every time I shower (so every day or two) - I don't think most people on here do this but it works for me & I never have any skin problems. I use a Dansac one piece with a Dansac seal. I only use water to clean, so when I take my bag off I wipe with wet swabs. Then it properly cleaned in the shower and I just use swabs to dry it and put on my bag & seal. If my skin is a little red I use a bit of powder but it's usually fine.
Diet wise, be careful for the first couple of months. Then when you want to add in new things, do it in small portions and build it up to more if you want, that way you know if it's causing you any problems. And if it doesn't agree with you, don't discount it forever! Try again in a few months! I couldn't eat apples at all for the first year, now I eat them every day, skin & all!
Check with you surgeon about exercise, when you can start & what you can do. I don't think anything should be a problem once you're fully healed and are very careful.
Activities - I've done plenty of things with my ostomy, it shouldn't stop you. Travelling on a plane, holidays, swimming, zip-lining, roller-coasters - all fine with me!
Just take things very slow and be kind to yourself - you will get through it!
