Is this normal after getting an ileostomy?

Hi! Haven't been on here in a long time!

I'm nearly 2 months post op and I'm still getting really bad stomach pains, worst on the lower left side of my abdomen.
I have still got my rectum and my ileostomy has been working fine. I also have a very tender stomach after eating, it gives me chest pain and pressure.

I have a diagnosis of UC and my calprotectin level is now 5 after my op.
Is it normal to still be in this much pain? People on another site are suggesting it may be Crohns colitis but my calprotectin is so low??

I don't know what a calprotectin is! No, I didn't have any stomach pain after my operation at all.

It makes me think that I may have crohn's colitis? Anyway basically calprotectin can show how much inflammation you have. People with active IBD usually have levels around around 100-1000 and mine is 5 so I can't have inflammation in the small intestine. Maybe it can give false readings sometimes? I'm not sure. I don't know much about it honestly.

I have Crohn's Colitis and did not have any pain like you are describing after surgery.

Your pain sounds like possible gallbladder pain to me. Gallbladder is often chest pain. Due to my liver issues I had gallbladder sludge and after some fatty meals was having chest pain. I've changed my diet a bit and haven't had any in awhile. Is the pain after every meal or only some meals? If it was gallbladder it would be more likely after a higher fatty meal. Unless it was heartburn or esophageal issues I would t think crohns would be causing chest pain.

After all meals my stomach gets very hard and gives me pain, I also get bloating and pain on my lower left abdomen

I would visit a GI doctor and have some tests done. I started having some upper gastric discomfort last summer and now take Prilosec, which is helping. I still have my gall bladder.

hi ya Zigs. I have had my ostomy now for a year. month after take down I was having stomach pain. Found out I was blocked. How is your output?
