I had an ileostomy reversal in January. Long over due, the ileostomy had a very high out put, and caused dehydration several times during the year. I often had to go in and get fluidated. Now that I've had the surgery, in the beginning, it wasn't bad for bowel movements, but diarrhea has been increasing so I am not out of the woods just yet. I've been told it's an adjustment period for the bowel to go back to normal over several weeks and or months, so I am expecting some bumps in the road? Besides I've had diarrhea for half my life, I would be surprised if there was none, but it would be helpful to slow it down, so I wouldn't lose anymore weight? Imodium doesn't work for me and there is so little option on our store shelves. I have Metamucil, but the surgeon thought it may be too irritating for my recovering bowel. Presently taking a very limited amount of Tylenol 3's which is helpful in slowing some of it down.Have to visit surgeon next week so hopefully he will have more ideas on helping me. I also have gas spasms which may or many not be related to the diarrhea I am having?
