You are correct that everyone is different regarding medications. If your husband isn't satisfied with his meds, talk to his doctor.
Secondly, is your husband seeing a neurologist? Is he seeing a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders - a movement disorder specialist or MDS? If you have access to a MDS, I would strongly encourage you to make an appointment with him/her.
And to answer your question re: meds, I was diagnosed in 2001 and took 4 mg of Requip for my first 2-ish years. Requip and Mirapex are both dopamine agonists, but the dosage is not the same. (You can't compare .75 mg of Mirapex to .75 mg of Requip.) Today I take 18 mg of Requip XL. I have been VERY fortunate to have had a slow progression. I still work full-time, have a PD support group, exercise regularly and am very involved in other PD activities.
