Latest PSA test results

I had my second  PSA test last week (surgery last June).  Result was 0.02, which was a definite disappointment.  However, my family dr and the uro surgeon both told me not to worry at all, that with my post-surgery profile -- 3+3=6, negative at margins -- this was still a great result.  Not scheduled for another test until September.  Guess you have to trust your drs.

Take heart my friend. We were the same, but it is an undetectable result. Swim (as in Swimom) explained it brilliantly to me via email and said its OK to share her words. So this below eased my mind somewhat:

"To answer whether CJ’s PSA could bounce around by a number here

and there than back again…SURE, and it probably will. Don’t forget

that surgery often leaves a tiny bit of prostate tissue behind. The organ

isn’t exactly a solid organ on one end which makes it pretty hard to get

every remnant of tissue out. The Cowper’s gland produces a tiny amount

as well. There are other reasons for miniscule amounts of PSA showing

up on such a sensitive test. " (email around last Oct from Swim).

We are now up for another one Puget, and I am kind of expecting a minor bounce. However I do not think you have bounced - it could be the test, the rounding off to 2 decimals, or the gland descibed by Swim above.

Take care, and hope your mind can be eased. This is a good one I reckon, but I did ask the same question exactly when CJ's PSA went from 0.01 - 0.02. At the time, since everyone was so glad about it, I emailed the question rather than posted it, however as Swim will tell you, I was rather freaked at the time... cheers, Lana

Thanks, all, for the reassurances. Intellectually, I know that things are OK -- I DO trust my doctors, but sometimes at the emotional level, the fear remains . . . Once again, you guys have pumped my up! Bless you!!
