I'm having trouble getting my prescription filled for Caverject Impulse.  The pharmacist said it was on back order.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Has Pfizer stopped making it?

Caverject Impulse users are scarce.  Most Docs start with Caverject Impulse (usually free) to see how it is handled by the patient.  Not many will stay on it permanently.  Impulse (the preloaded syringe) is more a doctor office provided item, being very costly to buy (about $55 per dose here).  Most who stay with Caverject move on to the premix liquid or powder in vials, with syringes, like we use for Bi and Trimix.  I don't know about the scaracity of Impulse.  I do know when I went to get my first Caverject Powder prescription, the pharmacist had to order it, it not being a normal stock item, but he didn't mention any scaracity of it.  Maybe this is a problem within this particular pharmacy's supplier chain?

I AM 41 AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A PENILE LEAKAGE I USED THE CAVERJECT IMPULSE 10MG 6 TIMES WITH GREAT RESULTS BUT THE LAST 2 TIMES I DID NOT GET A ERECTION AT ALL CAN SOME ONE RESPOND TO THIS

Thank you all for your help.  I called Pfizer's helpline and was told that Caverject is on back-order with no timetable when it would be available.  I had my doctor write a script for Edex and I just picked it up from CVS.  I'm hoping I achieve the same positive results with Edex as I did with Caverject.

I have not heard of Edex, Have you ever used it before?

Has anyone ever used it on the board ever used it?

Are the painful effects similar to Caverject?

Honestly, after going to the Bimix, you will never want the Caverject again.

BIGSAM, that sounds strange, the last 2 times not working.  Caverject can make a garden hose stiff, if you know what I mean.  It is really effective, so I don't know what to tell you.  You haven't changed anything with the process, such as letting the mix get hot, or changing syringes or needles, or technique have you?  An occasional miss is expected and the norm for us but 2 times after 6 successes sounds odd.

Rob, do you have good luck with Impulse, as to aching or painful erections when using it?  what dosage do you use?  What's your satisfaction scale, 1 to 10 for using it?

I used Caverject, but stopped due to the discomfort it caused.  I went to the bi-mix, which was not as effective, but caused me no pain.  I have suffered a little "bending" pyronies with the bi-mix. Trying to find a solution for that.

The Caverject is expensive, I still have 5 prefilled syringes at about $40 a pop. I guess I will just dump them after their use date, what a waste.

The Edex is the generic Caverject (alpostradil , prostaglandin), mostly sold in Canada, it is less expensive, but is suppose to work the same way.

I've never used Edex before.  Edex is made by Schwarz Pharma headquartered in Germany and has the same active ingredient (alprostadil) as Caverject.  I'll keep you posted on how well it works for me.

Caverject work well for me, but only after some trial and error.  The first 2 or 3 times it did not work and I was very discouraged.  Then, after reading a post from this forum, I tried taking it with Levitra and BAM, it worked great.  I had a 100% erection that lasted for an hour.  I took 10mg of Levitra a hour before the injection.  The injection strength was 20mcg and I took half of that.  Before injection, I encourage a little bit of blood flow into the penis and I think that is the key.  I've tried the Levitra/Caverject combination 4 times and have a 100% success rate.  As far as pain accompanying injection, I'm one of the lucky few because I have not experienced any.  It's never a pleasant task to poke yourself down there, but as far as efficacy, I would give it a 10.

Concerning valve leakage.  I did notice that the Caverject gave a much firmer, if more painful and aching response, but it also really reduced the amount of urine leakage.  It's much more aggressive response must really put some constriction on the whole penis. Still not a worthwhile tradeoff for the pain and aching though...lol
