Hi Biker,

Thinking of you on your big week!

I noted on my calender that your lung cancer surgery date is Wednesday, June 25. 

I hope the op preparation is going as well as it can. 

Please know that your friends are here rooting for you!

Best wishes for very successful surgery and a rapid recovery time!

I've been busy getting ready for surgery on Wednesday. Walking 3 miles a day and doing breathing exercises. I feel better now than I have for several years.

Also I'm working on my getting my attitude ready. First, I am convinced that this surgery is the only way to go with my condition. I asked my pulmonologist what would happen if I did nothing. He said I would have 2 to 3 years to live. That made the surgery decision lots easier. Second, I have full confidence in my surgeon. He has been doing these operations for 30 some years and is very confident in his ability. I will go into the OR cheering on the surgical team. (At least till the lights go out...)

The statistics for my apparent stage of cancer are that about 60% live more than 5 years. We will know more about that after getting the post-op pathology report. At any rate, I am determined to prove the numbers wrong again. They apply to the survivors they kept track of and have absolutley nothing to do with me.

Sorry for being off-topic folks. Just wanted to give y'all an update...

Biker Jim,

You were the first person to welcome me here and I will never forget the kindness.

I appreciate the private email exchanges that we have on occasion on various topics, too.

You are a great guy and a wonderful contributor to this site.

Hi Jim,

You are a truly amazing man I love your attitude towards this cancer and I truly beleive that after your surgery you will once again be cancer free.  You get back to us soon after surgery and let us know how you are doing we will all be waiting for the news.  Good luck my friend and we will say an extra prayer for you.

There are many who send their good thoughts and well wishes as you head once again into surgery. Our thoughts will be with you, ML & your surgeon on Wednesday.
Once you're settled in your comfy hospital bed after surgery, they'll be right there wanting to get you moving around...and I know you'll co-operate to the fullest! Do recovery right & well. I think you've said once or twice..."be patient".

We'll be anxiously waiting for word and you know we're hoping for the best,

Biker, We will be praying for you on Wednesday. You gonna ask them for a cathiter just for old time's sake???...heheheh

Good Luck Jim, we are all pulling for you and Ms. Biker, you and family are in my prayers. Wednesday will be one year ago I rec'd my PCa dx, my year has been good and I'm sure yours will be also. Let me know if I can do anything with info, I'll be glad to help, been a Respiratory Therapist for too long (30 yrs). God Bless.

Thank all you wonderful guys and girls. You are pulling me through.

I will spend tomorrow doing my final prep for surgery. Walking and talking to myself. (I get to do that cause I"m old.) My spirits are up and I'm in the best shape I've been in for years. My surgeon sleeps well at night and we both are ready to go.

The only thing I resent is that I have to have a darn catheter for a couple of days. Thought I was done with that thing. The reason is that they keep me numb from the shoulders down for a while. They don't want me to mess up their nice sheets. (I will find a way to get even. Maybe I'll start leaking when they take it out.)

Walt War Eagle wrote a wonderful post about the meaning of HeallingWell. We really are a family here. Tony's visit and the visits MaryLu and I have had with Bluebird, Puget and IdahoSurvivor solidify our relationships. Where would we be without each other?

Let's all get well together...

As the #1 member of "The Biker Jim Fan Club" I know you are having your surgery today and want you to know that we are all pulling & praying for you! GET WELL SOON!!! ** BIKER UPDATE **

I just talked to Jim's sweet wife 30 minutes ago.  It sounds like his surgery went well, but Jim is more pain than he should be.  MaryLu indicated that the doctors are going to try to make things right to help him be more comfortable tonight.  MaryLu is such a gem!

I talked to Jim as well.  He can feel the support from this forum.  I told him we're all rooting for him! yeah

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for getting some rest tonight.  I know he'll appreciate it.

I'll call on a regular basis and let you know how he is doing until he gets back on-line.
