Hey Les,

Hoping for your best result with the new chemo drugs. And yes, the side effects of the auxillary meds do present a catch-22. (I spent two days in the infusion unit hooked to IV as a result) Makes it hard to stay focused on the objective when you get so sick from the meds but stay focused we must. I wear a blue and a white rubber wrist band. People ask me what they mean and I just tell them they remind me to FIGHT. They usually roll their eyes and mumble something about crazy old ****s.

Sorry about Carol's breast cancer and hope she is withstanding treatment in great shape. I have a good friend with breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy, many radiation treatments and almost a year of chemo but now is on yearly checkups. Her hair came back thicker and she looks great.

Finally, your courage comes through your words in your post. Please stay with us...

As the saying goes, yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift. Keep the spirit high and fight on and we are still here thinking about you and Carol and hoping that all turns out well for you both for a long, long time.

When it rains it certainly does pour. I'm sorry to hear you are being flooded lately, but we miss you and haven't quit thinking about you. Some days it is so hard to put one foot in front of the other, especially when life seems to be falling down around you. Times like these, it is courageous just to get out of bed. So, please give your wife a big hug from all of us and keep us posted. Good hearing from you, and wishing good news for your family!

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and good wishes.

Carol has finished her ten sessions of MasmmoSite brachytherapy and her next step is to meet with a medical oncologist to determine next treatment, if any. She's still feeling effects of surgery, anesthesia and radiation, but nothing horrible.

I had bone and CT scans on Friday. These are to be compared to scans done just before I started chemo to check for changes one way or the other. I've been taking my Sprycel every day, and go back to hospital for third round of Taxotere and Prednisone on Tuesday. I'm expecting/hoping they'll have the results of the scans for me. Talk about mixed emotions!!

Most of the side effects of the chemo have abated, except for those associated with digestive tract (from one end to the other - you name it, I'm experiencing it). Of course, after Tuesday's next foray into the wonderful world of chemo, I'm expecting all the rest to show up again.

I'll report on the reports Tuesday or whenever I get them.

Hey Les,

I'm glad Carol is enduring treatment well. I know what you mean about chemo effects on the digestive tract. Had it for a week with cycle 1 and expect it again next time which is on Friday. Good luck with your upcoming round. Hope its goes easier every time...
