still leaking

I am no poster child for this either. I am happy for the guys who say they were dry from day 1, but my intermittent dribble also goes on at 4 & 1/2 months. Interesting, that I thought when I was about 8 weeks out I would dry up any day. I am still using 1 pad at night & at least 1 during the day. Some days are worse than others and I cannot determine when the worst days will come.

As far as keegels, I have been slack in that and perhaps that can be blamed on my extended continual dribbling. I read from someone that when you are eliminating yourself to stop and hold it several times, and I started doing that about a week back. So far that has not done anything significant either.

Thankfully, I have learned to live with it. But, there are times when it is irritating to say the least. It seems the worst is when I am surprised by something that momentarily takes me off stride when walking or doing anything physical. If someone comes up behind me unexpectedly, I will invariably lose momentary control and a few events of this nature will make a difference during the day. Funny but not funny.

I do think you are a little early on expectation at 8 weeks. I think you will see gradual improvement, but if you end up like me - I have made it so far and it seems like improvement has basically in a holding pattern at almost dry.

I am out 9 weeks out of surgery, 1 pad a day still have the dribbles when raising voice, getting up, passing gas...When I walk and exeercise I think it gets much better, but dont overdue it. I still get up 3 to 4 times a night to goto the bathroom which I wish would slow down for my sleeps sake.

    Lemon,  Hang in there and give you body time to readjust to things.  Yeah, some are dry overnight, some take weeks, some months and yet others like myself never got dry without drastic measures.  Only time will tell.  Just keep working on it and see what happens.  I would say after 12 months what you have is what your gonna have.  Then go from there.  We will be pulling for ya.

lemonlime, even though I am lucky and was continent the day following cath removal, I was prepared to battle it for months, as most/some do. I understand your concern, and you are posting here out of fear that it will never go away, it will, just takes time. Personally, I was hoping my ED would resolve quickly, but no such luck. Meds help and make me functional, but I miss the "old days", but I am hopeful that, over time, I will continue to see gradual improvement. Heck, I may even wake up one day and this will be gone too, just like some here, but in the meantime I will wait. At least we are alive, cancer free, and have a resource like HealingWell that we can lean on. Stay in touch.

Speaking of leaking….I had my catheter removed after five weeks. Got it removed at 9am…..Not sure what I was thinking, but I was wearing boxer shorts to the doc’s office and then went to work….I peeeeeee’d all over myself all day long. Co-workers wouldn’t even go to lunch with me…I ended up calling a pizza delivery…
