Thanks for the encouraging words (above). I am going in tomorrow (3-5-09) for prostatectomy. Dr Foley will be doing the procedure. I hope my experience is at least as good as yours.
Last psa was 5+. Gleason was 6 in Jan.

We welcome you Larry, wish you all the best on your surgery tommorow, and look forward to seeing you on the other side, the recovery side. Your post doesn't say if your operation is open or robotic. Hopefully with a PSA of 5 and a Gleason of 6 less then 2 months ago, your dr/surgeon will be able to do a good job on you and get the cancer.

Please keep us posted as soon as you feel better.

Hey LarryC,
Good luck with your surgery tomorrow! When I went in for mine I know I was pretty nervous, but I tried to focus on the fact that I was doing the best thing I could to get rid of my cancer. Once you're in the OR and they put the mask on you won't notice a thing till they wake you up in the recovery room, and then you'll be on the "other side" and can start getting better. Best wishes for a quick, effective recovery, and post up when you feel better.
