biopsy done today

Just a word of comfort for those new ones who have not yet undergone the biopsy. Mine was done this afternoon - 12 cores - and the absolute worst part of it was the DRE at the beginning. The numbing shot was not even what I could call uncomfortable and the process of taking the cores was barely felt. A little sore as the lidocaine begins to wear off, but not even close to what I had been dreading. I did have one hydrocodone one hour before the procedure and a 5 mg. valium as I entered the clinic. So I was pretty relaxed as I went into the procedure. Ten minutes after I laid down the procedure was complete. Should have results on Tuesday.

I must say mine was fairly easy as well. Let us know your results. Will say a little prayer for you.

Mine was very interesting.  The lydacaine injection was a deep breath.  The cores where mostly just benign hit.  There were about three of them that really got my attention.  There was not ryme or reason why some would take you breath away and the others were no more painful that pulling you hair.

All in All the biopsy was fine.  The problem I had between the biopsy and the surgery I had continual bleeding when I ejaclulated.

David: I've lived for the past twenty years around Tulsa. But, my first thirty were spent in three small towns in southwest Oklahoma - Frederick, Snyder, and Tipton. Graduated from Snyder in the late 70s.

When you see the doc with the results, ask for(demand) complete copies of the pathology report and then study it and learn all about it, is a wise thing. Also find out the name or whom did the pathology??? It could get reviewed even by some of the handful of pathologist experts, thus a second opinion....it is sometimes amazing that a variance of sizeable proportion can exist amongest pathologists, it is an art. Without the pathologists info given to the uro-doc, the uro-doc has no clue as to what grade(s), %-volumes, types/variants of PCa, perinural invasion, ploidity tests etc. He learns to discuss it when he gets the report info, knowing pathology by looking at slides etc., is an art and not pure science.

Greetings, OKboy.  Small world.  I graduated from Granite, OK in 1970.  Looks like I'm a few years older than you.  I went to college at Oklahoma Baptist University and then practiced accounting in Shawnee for a few years.  Received my CPA certificate in Tulsa and have done some audit work around there.  I've been gone from Oklahoma since 1986 but still have many, many friends and family members - mostly around Granite and Shawnee.  David
