What a Monday so far. Dressed and put on my leg bag and drove off to run a bunch of errands. Two hours later, not a drop was in the bag. Pressure was building up in my bladder and starting to hurt. Get home, spent a lot of time on the commode, as pee was being forced by pressure under the catheter balloon and out my penis but only by small drips at a time.
Made arrangements for an emergency visit with my urologist and then suddenly, the bag filled like Niagra falls. Most of the pressure and pain relieved. Went and saw him, and he thinks some mucous or sediment must have blocked the inlet by the balloon. Of all my 8 catheters, this has never happened before. He looked at everything and my output and didn't want to disturb anything at this time. He did give me an irragation kit and syringe, that way, if it happens again, my wife, being a nurse, can irragate the cath and get it flowing again.
He did inform me, that next Monday I am going to come in, and he is going to swap catheters for a new one (hmm #9) and sedate me and do another dialation in the bladder neck. Tell me that doesnt sound like fun!
I made the mistake of asking him about the one day when we take out the SP cath, why wouldn't it leak? The answer - yes it will leak after all that time, and to compensate for that, I will have to wear a foley cath for a couple of weeks even when this SP cath is out in December.
I swear, there is no end to all this. And I still have to hope and assume after all that time, and all the radiation, that my bladder neck/urethra junction is still functional enough to be on its own.
And yes, the radiation clinic just called and due to an emergency on their end, todays treatment been delayed two hours. Will report in later. Still sore from this morning blockage. Least it was somewhat short lived.
