Adjunct RT Done now what?

Well I finished adjunct RT yesterday, 38 days, 68 gys. Time to get on with my life!So now what? I have a follow up apt in 3 mths where I'll get a psa test My Dr. does not do the ultra sensitive test, is the regular test ok, at 3 months [before RT] it was <0.1 which is below the least detectable limit,or should I get the ultra sensitive test? Also what about lifestyle and vitamins etc to reduice the likley hood of reacurance.I'm healthy and active and will take vit D [how much is best?] I read green tee is good and plan on switching from regular iced tea to green ice tea.  Any coments opinions would be apreaceated.Now to really work on the incontence.I also decided to retire and will be winding down my business over the next month then move on to the next chapter in my life.This forum has been very helpfull and supportive and will continue to help me deal with the cards I've been delt. Thanks      DICK

Congrats on finishing the RT. I had the same RT, 38/68GY, and had no problems. I just had my 3rd PSA draw @ the 18 month mark and it too came back @ <0.04. I had the ultra sensitive test and caught my recurrence before it got to .1. As far as after salvage RT I really don't know if it would be important but that is the test my Uro Doc uses. I am your age and am beginning to ramp down my business also. Looking forward to travel and fishing when my wife in 2 yrs.

Re vit D, I am taking 5000 IU daily now, but my doctor told me to reduce to 1000 IU daily.

I have done # 19 out of 33 and my questions are similar to yours. Stopped taking any kind of vitamin but will go back on them once I finish. So far I'm doing okay with the radiation and the second, 90 day Lupron ran down last week so my hot flashes are minimal.

Thanks for posting. It sounds like you're a couple of months ahead of me with similar stats. I wish you the best and will be looking for future posts. Our testing lab uses ultra sensitive tests and I am glad, IMO (completely unfounded and possibly off base) they give you a bit of a lead on any possible recurrence therefore giving a chance to hit it early with the next round of treatment.

As for the supplements, I'm following Dr Meyers advice from his book, Selenium 200mcgs/day, Licopine 10mg 3x/day, D3 4000 IU/day, vit E 200 IU/day Fish oil 4000mg/day he also recommends soy isoflavones 200 mg/day I haven't added those yet. I also have a glass of green tea (sun brewed over ice with sweet n low) and grape juice once in a while. Red meat is still in the picture but reduced, more fish and chicken. Quite honestly I don't know if any of this will help but they are all in the can't hurt/might help column as far as I am concerned. Plus I feel better and have more energy with a healthier diet.

My Dr has indicated I will be receiving adjunct RT soon, she wants to give the ED/continence issues a little time to heal first.

BTW as far as retirement goes be sure you will stay busy, I retired in 2/06 and was very busy and happy before Dx and I continue to live a happy life. The one danger of having idle time is you have too much time to THINK about the disease. I fill my time with volunteer work at a local no-kill shelter, projects around the house, and 4-wheeling and always find time to do happy things with my wife.
