First PSA reading post surgery....nervous

Hi there,
well I haven't posted here for quite some time. Dad had da vinci back in May and since then there have been lots of precious moments and days where it was as though prostate cancer had not touched our lives and as though it wasn't really happening. seeing dad so positive and recovered so well it has only been recently that his diagnosis seems reL again.

He has his post surgery three month psa reading tomorrow and meets the surgeon again to discuss further repercussions. I am very nervous and will say a little prayer tonight that he will be in the zero club.

what usually happens at this stage? Are there any particular questions I should ask.?

kmac - do you mind sharing his pathology report / stats with us? - that would help see what he may be facing tomorrow with the PSA -
-here's to hopeful thoughts and his first time in the zero club ( PSA - <0.1 ) - with many more to follow....

Thanks Bronson. I have Included a pretty brief signature with some stats. I'm yet to see the full pathology reports pre and post surgery however accounts from the surgeon were "all good"... As far as I know no perineurl invasion etc.

Does anyone know the stats for post surgery psa readings?

Anxiety about PSA tests is one of the side effects of PCa surgery. Be calm, you have done the research and are ready to deal with whatever may come. For now, you can only enjoy the life that we are given.

wishing so much for a good PSA
for your dad. the worry and anixety of that comes with each test, that is probably quite a normal fear at this point in time. hopefully, as he gets more and more good readings, some of that will calm over time. That's what I keep telling myself.

hope you are taking care of your own well being too.

I have been checking out the forum over the last couple of months but been busy as I had my little boy two weeks ago, named after dad.
The folks arrive tonight (I now live in Melbourne where dad had his surgery) then meet the dr to analyze the psa results tomorrow.
You are right...anxiety over what could or could not happen is pointless and we should value each day in it's own right.

Dad just finished with the surgeon.
His post op PSA is 0.3, down from 0.46.
No zero club, so they will another blood test in another 6 weeks.

I'm trying to be positive right now but I know this isn't the best result. Can someone help interpret this for me please....

Sorry... That would be down from 4.6.
Could this mean that radiation could be 'an option?

Sorry to hear you're Dad didn't hit zero.

.3 means there's probably some prostate cancer tissue still in there. Don't be discouraged. Fortunately, there will be several options at this point including most likely both radiation and hormonal treatments. Or both. It will depend on whether the other data suggests that the remaining cancer is in the prostate bed area, or elsewhere. If you can post more details from the original pathology report it will help people here respond more usefully.

So in 6 weeks time the next psa will determine treatment, based on whether it has gone up, down or stayed the same?
Is it possible that it can take a while to come down?
I feel like I'm clutching at straws here but really thought this would be over and we could all relax. I can't stand the thought of dad having to have weeks of radiation. I hate cancer so much.
