Yes these are like family or are family to some of us. Sorry for the poster herein and for you Casey.(also my neighbor has a gorgeous golden age 3 or 4 with similar cancer..very sad),. I recently lost one of my two rescue dogs (Australian Shepherd mix- a cute s.o.b. too).
Had xrays reveal cancer that grew and pushed intestines out of the normal path, thus dog could not crap, I assisted this dog to live via water, soy and liquids for about 6 weeks after grim diagnosis. What a battle for life, that dog even got up to pee about 2 hours before he died and he really couldn't hardly get up and walk, I was dragging him around on a doggie bed for weeks..I didn't want to lose this dog either. Doc even had me give the dog some Prednisone which cause some stir in him I noticed, so dropped that. Is it the Chinese dog food, or bad luck???? This Chinese dog food influence is substaintial.
I did adopted another dog recently, got a black lab with one blue eye and one brown eye...his name already was 'Blue' works for me. Around 6 yrs. old, trained and good to go...worked out great for me and my other Aussie dog for a new step brother.
Needless to say, dogs are the best.
