Clinical trial in my future

Saw oncologist today for my rising psa after surgery and radiation. The doctor said no prostate cancer reacts the same from person to person regarding ht therapy, some will respond and drop to undetectable for extended periods of time. The doctor also said you can wait until your psa reaches 10 if you have no symptoms before starting HT. There are 2 clinical trials currently at Oregon Health Sciences University (Knight Cancer Center) for rising psa’s for patients who have rising psa’s after surgery and radiation. The doctor feels I will be eligible for one of the trials by this summer. I will have my psa drawn again at the end of June and will see the doctor July 5th to see if I qualify for one of the clinical trials.

The doctor said changes in urination or sharp pains like in the middle of your arm , pelvis area etc. like you have never experienced before. Not pains in your joints which could be arthritis. The doctor said you will know something is different and not right. I also asked how accurate the bones scans are and he said they are very accurate and with mine they picked up a lot of arthritis in my hips and spine. I too also had bladder neck surgery done years ago. Bob
