Shopping for a VED right now. I still have 3+ weeks before I can start to use it but I don't have much else going on except being a REAL DRIP. I should don a condom cath with a hose dangling at about boot heal height and water and fertilize the lawn all at the same time by simply walking around the grass. It would surely beat daytime tv. Heck, watching the paint dry beats daytime. Back to the subject at hand, I would like to know what brands and models of VEDs you guys have had both good and bad luck with?

BTW: I am getting caught up on reading some books I intended to read one of these days. Well that day is here. Best book read so far has been "In Harms Way". It is about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. The USS Indianapolis was the boat Sam Quint was on in the movie Jaws. Here is a Sam Quint quote from the movie: "I'll never put on a lifejacket again. So, eleven hundred men went in the water; 316 men come out and the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb."

There are several medical versions and lots of cheep sex shop versions. If your going to use the VED for SEX you prob want the medical version. If your going to use it just for blood flow then the sex shop version works the same.

Check on ebay.

Most Uro offices have a connection with the medical pump reps and will set you up with a visit them them.

Hopefully I'll only be using it for blood flow or what I call penis rehab. But as we all know, none of us knows where our journey will take us. My Davinci surgeon gave me a pamphlet for a Osbon Erecaid. Talk about over priced at 525.00 US dollars for a manual.

Depends on your insurance. Mine covered it, after some discussions/appeals, but that means it had to be an Rx/FDA approved version, so the Osbon won. I did have to pay shipping & handling, which was probably equal to what a cheap one costs on ebay.

I am told this one is pretty good, and good price. Apparently Medical standard.

There was a great movie on the Indianopolis, called "Mission of the Shark", available on DVD, staring Richard Thomas (from The Waltons). Very real to the actual subject. Check it out.

I am the proud owner of two VEDS, one I bought at a sex shop for $50 and the other (erectaid battery or manual) from US online shop $150 including postage, It took too long for the one to arrive by air mail from the US 7 weeks so I bought the cheapie up the road. To my surprise when it arrived exactly the same, any way ok for rehab, but for sex you will need better rings, I tried a few different sorts and Osborn type work best for me. still using the cheap VEDl and it's doing fine 9 months on. It is a matter of what works best and what your happy to spend, My doc wanted me on needles as well cause he says it gets blood into the whole penis not just the bit dangling in front. So I do both for now.

Here is a link to a medical supplier that carries Encore, Osborn, and Post-T-Vac models. The Post-T-Vac is more expensive than the Osborn but this site carries a repair parts kit so the Post-T-Vac is repairable for a cost of 7.50 for the parts kit.

When I worked in Navy public affairs at the Naval Station at Great Lakes, Illinois, I was privilege to meet quite a few of the remaining survivors of USS INDIANAPOLIS when we named a major facility (the combat training pool at the recruit training command) after the ship.  If you think a cancer diagnosis is a life altering event, I asssure you it pales in comparison with what these gentlemen went through....probably the worst disaster at sea in the history of the U. S. Navy.

As for the VED question, I spent about $14 bucks at a nearby adult bookstore for a device that seems to work just fine.  I only use it for "exercise," not to try to maintain an erection for intercourse, but I don't see what an expensive device would do that this one doesn't when it comes to getting blood into the penis.  Unfortunately, from what I've read, the blood that is brought in when using a VED is not the arterial blood that is really needed.

I would have liked to have met some of the survivors on the Indianapolis. I'm sure none of them were like Jack Quint even though I thought Robert Shaw did a good job playing the role of a survivor who is extracting his revenge against all sharks thru constant hunting.

I might give a cheap VED a try because all I want to do is get blood circulating into the penis. Two uros that I talked to both prescribe daily low dose cialis and a VED for penis rehab. I haven't had a midnight erection since my RRP.

I bought the Vacurect. It works really well, is easy ti use, is very comfotable and has the most natural action of VEDs on the market.

I think I'm going with the MacGyver model. The top looks like the top of a wine or beer bottle cut off from the base. It turns your wine bottle vacuum sealer into a multi-function tool. Made by Greentree Redneck Industries. For those of you extremely endowed they make the Grey Goose model.

I am an engineer and machinist by trade. If it comes down to it, I may build my own. Probably will cost more in time and effort though, than a sex shop cheapie.

That is a great combination of skills that I wish I had White Bird. I've always wanted a good gunsmithing lathe myself. I would like to buy barrel blanks and try various calibers that fit the AR15/AR10 uppers. Might be able to do it if Real Estate ever gets to 2004 prices again. I also have a very old but good Belgium made Browning Bolt action that I would like to rebarrel.
Ironically, bolt guns would require a federal firearms license to work on other than my own. ARs I can work on professionally without an expensive license. To explain this issue for those of you that don't understand US firearm laws, a person only needs to have a license while working on that part of the gun that is serial numbered. An ARs serial number is on the lower receiver. To rebarrel an AR, you only need the upper receiver. To rebarrel a bolt gun, you must have the entire action, bolt and receiver, which has the serial number on it. While I never have worked as a machinist, I"ve had access to lathes and mills and have made several projects in my day. Access to those machines have dried up.
