I'm now exactly 4 weeks post-op from my RALP surgery. I consider myself extremely fortunate since I have been virtually dry and continent since day one of the catheter removal. I have had a few squirts here and there but nothing pad worthy. Up to now, I have had absolutely no activity whatsoever as far as erections go. My doctor had me hold off on any ED therapy until the 4 week mark. At 4 weeks I requested a prescritption for something (Viagra, Cialis or Levitra) and was prescribed Viagra. I picked up my prescript
ion which consisted of (4) 100mg tablets which is all my insurance would cover. This cost me $30.00 and I guess its considered a (1) month supply.
Long story short, I took the pill at 8pm and started to mess around with the wife at 9:30pm. Much to my surprise, things started to come alive again. It took a decent amount of stimulation but when it did happen it came back to 95% pre-op firmness. The orgasm was fair but I think that may have been due to my concern with possible pain or urine squirting. The only side effects I had were a flush feeling in my face and a slight headache afterward.
Needless to say, I have a new found hope. My surgeon told me that he spared both nerves and that ED recovery could take up to 2 years but it is still disconcerting when things aren't working the way they once did. As always its fear of the unknown.
I know that I have a long way to go and that it still might not happen spontaneously, but the fact that I could achieve an erection with a pill made me feel somewhat normal again.
