Generic Viagra is it as good as the real thing?

Anybody bought generic viagra? Is it as good as the real stuff? It looks to be about $2.00 a pill for 100mg and the manufacturer is the same one that made my Cipro and it worked fine. I did a search on htsi site and typed in "generic viagra" and go zero hits. I have not had very good luck with the search feature on this site, does it need improvement, or am I doing something wrong? It is very similar to The Gear pages which is a great guitar site if you type in a word for a search it will find that word.

Swimom I assume you are saying, yes it works just as well. I spoke with a friend who uses viagra and he told me he was buying the generic and it was exactly the same only a lot less. He is now getting it free from the veterans so he doesn't have to buy it anymore. Oh, and buy the way I really appreciate your post on this site you are a great help for us.

No, it's not as good as the "real" stuff.

The generic India made version, from the information I discovered, is the same the generic Viagra that is currently sold legally in Europe and other countries outside the US and is the same ingredient that Viagra sells in their generic brand.

One crucial thing here is to diferentiate between generic Viagra and "Viagra" offered at cheap prices on the internet.

One is the real thing without paying the price that refects things like the R&D costs of having developed it in the first place, the other is a blue tablet that might not actually be what you think it is.

People are going to need the drug companies to be able to fund future research to develop new drugs to deal with new problems. Critiscism of drug companies for charging too much because they want to make profits is not the issue, the issue is about them making excess profits where the profits go to share-holders rather than where the profits get pumped back into R&D.

Fake drugs are a whole different problem and may just poison you while the profit goes to a criminal, so do all you can to check out the place you buy a drug.

Viagra is not an "over the counter medication". I would make sure that you start taking it under supervision of your doc/uro etc. And then see about switching on the basis of price. ie be aware of the risks if you for instance have BP issues and the side effects (headaches etc)

Yes Viagra was developed to deal with other issues than ED and many men taking it for those other conditions reported it gave then erections! (Similarly I believe that a medication deveopled to help women regulate their periods turned out to have the side effect of making them infertile, hence the Contraceptive Pill was developed)

Dutch Health Department has just issued a warning today to people not to get medication online if it's medication for which a doctor's prescription is needed.

Taking prescription meds without being under a doc's supervison can be dangerous, especially in situations where the combiantion of two meds can be fatal despite each med being pretty okay on it's own.

Fake medicines have become so realistic in appearance that they have even entered the official NHS supply chain in the UK. There have been ten serious recalls in recent years (inclusding one for fake casodex) and there are still some 30,000 pack of fake meds unaccounted for.
The NHS has even been the victim of a fake needle scam with some diabetics getting needles from the NHS, that later turned out to be counterfeit.

It's more than just caveat emptor. Buying a fake Rolex or Gucci bag doesn't hurt the buyer, but buying fake brake pads that crack and fall of when they get hot ain't a great result.

Alf, when you're buyig from India, you're buying the same stuff without the name. There is a difference between buy the same stuff from India with a different name and rat poison from Mexico. In the US, it is very often the doctors/nurses/specialists who suggest getting them online given the price difference.

David. - In Europe I think it would be illegal for a doc or nurse to tell you to get a prescription med on line instead of via a prescription and a pharamcy. The pharmacies are however allowed to get their meds from cheaper sources so they can use cheap imports get repackaged in the right language. (I think that's how conterfeit meds got inside the official safe system)

I don't have prices available for Holland to compare as all meds I have had have been paid by my insurance. (I don't pay the hospital or pharmacy they simply send the bill direct to the insurance company so I never see a bill) There is a plan to change the whiole billing system here though so that even if the insurance company pays for treatments and meds direct the patient will still get sent a copy to see what it has cost. I have that system with my dentist becasue the insurance company has to show me how it has split the bill into the parts that they do and don't cover.
As I understand it many insurance comopanies in Holland will cover Viagra Cialis if you have a docs prescription, especially if you have supplementary insurance rather than the compulsory basic cover. (In Holland everyone has to have their own private insurance: people on low incomes get help to pay the premiums.)

Billy. - I'm guessing a conterfeit needle might be one that becasue it was made on the cheap was not the right internal or external diamtere, or not sharp enough, strong enough clean enough etc. Like with conterfeit spanners that snap when you tighten nuts.
