I seem to recall that the patent would expire in March, 2012.  Well, we're here.  Interestingly, I haven't seen anything in the media about it.  I would think that it would be big news.  As is, insurance won't cover, and it's WAY expensive.  Anyone have any insight - or insider info????  Hoping all the ED "vitamins" will go down in price as a result.

I'm grateful that my urologist provides me with samples every time I ask. I could never afford the outrageous cost of these meds.

The 2012 patent was for the compound itself. The 2019 patent was for using it as an ED drug.

It might, if someone manufactures and sells it in generic form for a different purpose who's to keep us for using it for ED?

Be prepared for a battle.  Just because a drug has 'aged' out so that generics can be sold more reasonably doesn't mean that it will be sold for less. We already know that we can get quality Viagra generics from India. Who do you think is trying to shut that quality source of supply down?

The best recent example is Lipitor the cholesterol drug.  Just last December (2011) Lipitor, The best selling drug in history became a 'generic' drug....wrong....The Pharmaceutical owner of this drug blocked all but one competing generic and began selling it through their own generic company (Watson).  They have a few special deals, but the vast majority of their users (MEDICARE ) pay about 200% more than their 'special users'.  I, for example, pay $136 a quarter for Atorvastatin (generic Lipitor) rather than the $12 that this Pharma giant claims people are paying. 

Who is this Pharma Giant?  PFIZER PHARMACEUTICALS.... The same {} who own VIAGRA...whoops
