Anyone have Tinnitus and underwent surgery?

I have had tinitus for years and can usually ignore it until someone mentions it. Then it becomes apparent to me. The events surrounding the treatment for my PCa had no effect on the tinitus.

- my tinnitus was caused by the use of Cipro prior to / during and after my PCa surgery. At that time, I used a shaped pillow to help support my neck and open up my airway passage for my breathing ( allowing for the Cipro to affect the fluid in my ears and destroy the nerve endings in my ear.
- it is quite severe now and I view it as a SE of my PCa treatment.
- it may have been aggrevated further by use of Viagra post-op in my pursuit of penile rehabilitiation.
- both Cipro and Viagra are known to cause tinnitus.
- I am coping with my ED and shortened penis and mild intcontinence -but having difficulty functioning due to the tinnitus.

- it is very unfortunate that I was not warned beforehand the dangers of Cipro and Viagra.

I have it pretty bad, but it was like that prior to DX. I am now taking about 25mg viagra daily and I don't think it has made it worse. Maybe it just cant get worse, I dunno. There is a web site for us sufferers and I think William Shatner is one of the founders.

I noticed I had tinnitus a few weeks after taking Viagra during my recovery from surgery. The tinnitus hasn't let up in 2 years even though I only used Viagra for a few weeks (about 10 pills total).

I mentioned this to my primary care doctor during a regular checkup and he didn't seem to think there was a link between my tinnitus and Viagra. But looking only the web, hearing damage seems to be a noted side effect of Viagra. I also had other side effects from Viagra too-congestion and blue tinted vision.

My surgery made no noticable difference in it, but 2 years later when I finally had to go with 2 hearing aids, they really reduced it to almost nothing. The Audiologist told me that would probably happen, but I admit I was more than a little skeptical.

I have a good deal of tinnitus. I think a lot is due to the multiple Cipro regimens (before surgery) and the Levitra I now take in low doses (post surgery). Maybe I notice it more because a lot of my work requires very good hearing. I'm also frustrated with allergies that make everything seem worse and more plugged up than it should be...Also, I take aspririn at 83 mG because I do have higher cholesterol...that is genetic. I deal with it as well as I can, but it can be very frustrating.

I traditionally only ever had a slight case of ringing in the years... infrequent and never really bothersome. Always had great hearing with no interference or discomfort from any of the infrequent ringing events.

After the dx of PCA andf other life issues going on at the time, I ended up in a pretty severe case of depression... I was prescribed a combo of two anti-d meds... One being Wellbutrin (bupropion). The only negative side effect of that med for me was subsequent tinnitus symptoms of the noticeable ringing in the ears whenever the surrounding environment was quiet... especially at night and trying to go to sleep. Very bothersome at times. Took awhile to convince the doc that it was a related side effect... except he also had another patient have the same thing happen with the same med..

Happy to say that since those days, and when I stopped taking Wellbutrin, the ringing subsided back to pre-depression/PCA levels and I hardly ever notice ringing unless I really try to concentrate and hear it... My overall hearing is excellent and I can hear a watch ticking across the room (non-digital type... lol)... So,the actual PCA surgery and subsequent SRT radiation has had no direct effect on any tinnitus symptoms in my case...

I have had severe tinnitus for as long as I can remember. It runs in my family and my doctor thinks it is genetic. It did not get worse from surgery or use of any ED meds.

I find my tinnitus changes from day to day, I also find that sometimes after a morning shower, it decreases in intensity. I guess this is probably fairly common?

I have had tinnitus almost 20 years and I find that taking Gyncko Biloba really helps and reduces the noise, especially if I take it about an hour before bed.  If I knew about tinnitus when I was younger, I would have used ear protection when going to discos and bars.  I can remember times when my ears would ring for days after going to a disco because the music was so loud .  My son now uses those foam ear inserts when he goes to a bar with loud music. I wish someone would have told me about this when I was a kid.   

I've had tinnitus pretty continuously for 20+ years. The surgery had no effect on it, it was no better and no worse afterwards.
