Got My Latest PSA result today

Well, I am very pleased although it is going up and the handwriting is on the wall. It was 2.52. However, look at this recent history; keep in mind that I started Avodart on the advice of Dr. Lam on about January 6th. Based on my late February PSA, it appeared to be failing (at that point my PSADT was 3 months).

Dr. Lam agreed to do 1 more (late March) and we agreed (and totally expected) that if it hits 4 we start HT.

So, another reprieve until I see Dr. Lam on the 29th and get another PSA then.

Just that one initial decrease.

But the rate of increase has really declined.

Ask your doctor about Avodart.

It seems to be buying a bit of time for me.

At least until I see Lam in 4 weeks.

sorry, mel, i just realize that i read your chart the wrong way, many have their latest readings at the bottom. regardless, good luck, looks like you are still heading for the same treatment path, though perhaps at a slower pace.

Good news Mel. Essentially PSA is flat.

let me know if your psa hits 4 and you start H/T we can go shoe shopping together. Actually I hope it just stays flat for you old buddy.

Mel, I am very happy for you. Reprieves are always a good thing.

So this means you can put it on that back burner you have reserved for it and go on enjoying life to the max for a while. Here's hoping that it just gets to be a stubborn son of a gun and doesn't make it to the magic number of 4.

Yes, I'm taking plenty of supplements, and perhaps they are helping, too.

But I suspect it's the avodart

Mel, if you're happy, I'm happy. I say any slowing of a climb is good news. Avodart is on my list of things for my July appt. Like other things discussed here- probably can't hurt and may help, even if to just delay. Thanks for sharing.
