Thank you for all the welcomes! I'm happy there is an outlet. The UsToo! chapter of Las Vegas was where my wife and I tunred 1st and gained a better understanding and put the fear in the back seat almost immediately.
As to the question of why I had a PSA test to begin with at age 42, I was having pelvic discomfort on and off for about a month, including some hip pain that seemed severe to non-existant overnight. I'm am relatively athletic and had have injuries and soreness over the years so that particular pain wasn't very alarming. I attributed it to my lifestyle. However, the big thing was urinating blood after work one night as well as having a fever that was going around. I didn't know if the 2 were related so I ended up going to the Emergency Room. A catskan revealed a mass in my bladder as well as what they thought was a mass on my sacrem. I went to a Urologist later that day and had more tests. Turns out, the mass in my bladder was a tumor growing from my prostate, into the bladder. That was causing the blood in my urine. My prostate wasn't enlarged, either. It was nodular, but normal size, I guess because the tumor grew out the top of it, like a branch. I've had transurethral surgery for tumor removal. That's basically how my situation materialized and I got under way with my medical team. I must say, I've felt in good hands with all involved. The Las Vegas UsToo! chapter, my urologist and oncologist have been invaluable to us to this point. And my loving wife of 27 years has been great, too. Not to mention strengthening my relationship with God.
Thanks again for the replies and positive feedback.
