Thursday, June 28th will kick-off the beginning of the North American – GFMPH –Traveling Meet and Greet Road Tour.

Lynn and I talked for months about what I was going to do when the time came for me to adjust to her not being in my life everyday. So between us we devised a plan.

It wasn’t until we were talking with the folks from Hospice that we found out that there is such a thing as called “A Bereavement Plan”.

So here is the plan that Lynn and I developed and fine tuned. I am hitting the road in the beast (my 40ft diesel RV). My planned route will take me from Orlando, FL to Baton Rouge and then on to Clearwater, ID. This part of the journey will take about 5 weeks, until the first week of August.

The next leg will take me East across the upper US and end in NY for the September GFMPH.

The final leg will be south to DC, for the last of my clinical trial scans and then on to Orlando. I should be home about the 1st or 2nd week of October.

But the best part of this trip is to be filled in by you fine folks from HW.

I will list the major cities that I will be traveling through and looking for any of you that are close by that route. I would like to meet as many of you as possible, face to face, on my trip. Your support for Lynn and I over the last three years has given us strength many a day and I want to shake the hands, see the smiles and hug the generous souls of as many of you as I can.

And there is an added bonus. On the first leg of the trip from Baton Rouge to Idaho, I will be accompanied by Cajun Jeff and his lovely wife Pat. We are all headed for the horse ranch of our HW-GFMPH brother Dallas (ClearwaterCowboy) and his wife Jeannie. We plan about 1-2 weeks of travel and then a couple of weeks just sitting on our butts or his horses and exploring some of God’s country to get a chance to clear the minds. Then Jeff and Pat will fly back to Baton Rouge and I will be traveling on towards NY and GFMPH.

So here is the list of cities we will encounter on the first leg. Sign in, sign on and sign up. Jeff, Pat and I want to see the smiles and meet the folks. I will be taking lots of pics and sharing them with all of the attendees of the NY GFMPH.

Just plug the cities into Google Maps and you will see our route. We are in no real hurry, so a little detour here and there will not cause a problem.

Lynn and I planned this trip with great love and joy, I sure hope I get a chance to meet some of you and share that joy.

Sonny has brought a whole new meaning to GFMPH, it is now a traveling gathering all across the country. I am so jealous he will not be going through Birmingham, but that may happen on some future road show, I hope.  Th culmination of Sonny's trip will be the most gooderest gooder GFMPH of all time since the last gooder GFMPH in NY in September. I will be punching my plane ticket in the next few days as I am committed to being there.

OH BOY - looks like I'm on the list... I have two spare bedrooms...but only one has a bed.

Not that I am lobbying for a route change.  But, hypothetically, if you added 8 hours of drive time and chose an alternate route, you could see the following along the way:

• Sedona
• Flagstaff
• Grand Canyon

We are good tour guides on the above. Plus, TWO fully furnished guest bedrooms and a pool! Schedule caveat: we will be heading out on our road trip around July 25.

 

Sonny - Planning one leg at a time is a good idea for such a long trip, especially considering the circumstances. I'm sure you are still in a bit of a fog. You may want to keep your options open and your schedule may change a bit.

Looking forward to hearing when you'll be passing through Atlanta. We are in Alpharetta which is north of Atlanta, Snellville is east. We can find a spot to meet for lunch or dinner or would love to host you at our home if you're up for the drive up north a bit. Either way, hope to see you by the end of Summer.

If you ever have a hankering for seeing the Fall colours north of the border - give us a shout
- lots of maple syrup (makes a nice dipping sauce for shrimp), poutine ( you can look it up), and funny money (some of it is now plastic with a see-through window !)

I want to nominate Sonny to our new position of "GFMPH Traveling Ambassador" I can not think of anyone in this forum more qualified. I am starting to believe we can have 40 attendees in NY GFMPH in September.

You owe it to yourself to explore America's great North Coast. The fishing in Lake Erie's western basin (about midway between Cleveland and Toledo) is some of the best in the world.

Goodlife and I can show you around. We know all the best bars on the Lake Erie islands!

Nah... We can handle it. I ran the numbers for GFMPH Attendee Doubling Time (GATD) and it is indicating 42 in September. And since you've already been here, you know I have radiation and targeted seeds in case the numbers get really out of hand. ;-)

We've upgraded the plumbing and now have 4 outside spigots, each with 2, 3, or 4 adapter ports. Two of the spigots are newly connected to Town water and two are on well water - with improved pressure!
The Town is widening our road as we speak so Sonny can get in easier and not block the road completely while hooking up the car.
I filled in and reseeded the 6 inch deep Beast Memorial ruts in my front lawn so it will be ready for compaction in September.

I can't wait! Sonny, Come early!!! Maybe some guys in NY might want to see you outside of GFMPH.
