SC Mini GFMPH Meet is over now.

We had a great mini-meet today in Powdersville, SC.  Startech, San Carlos, and I met for 4 hours at a great local Mexican resturant.  I have meet with San Carlos at least twice before, he's a great guy and friend. Startech drove al the way from Knoxville, Tn to be here this afternoon, believe he said it was 140 plus miles each way over the mountains.

We had a great meal, and had ample time to talk about everything under the sun.  Of course our own PC experiences came up, but we talked all kinds of "guy talk" and covered a great number of subjects of mutal interest.

It's always nice to meet another new HW brother in person.  Startech, I believe is the 9th that I have met here in S.C.

He is a great guy, full of interesting stories, and was fun to be around, I look forward to seeing him again one day, perhaps at the N.Y. GFMPH meet if I feel well enough to go this year.

San Carlos and I plan to continue to meet on a regular, hopefully monthly basis.

It was a good time by all, and  the time flew by, but alas, Startech had to make that long trip back to Knoxville, so we part, both having made new and lasting friendships.

Sounds like you had a great time.  I agree meeting people in person makes all the difference in the world.  It is as if you've known each other for years when you meet for the first time.

I concur with Rob2 , who I had the pleasure to meet at GFMPH Cajun style. We had never meet each other and left as friends.

Startech is heading my way (DC area), anyone in the area is welcome to meet me and Startech when he gets here. I think he will be staying at a RV park on 95 just north of where 95 meets 495. Drop me a note and I'll let you know of when and where.

Well said David, you hit it on the nose. It was a great day for me and an absolute pleasure to meet you and San Carlos. I can't believe how the time just got away from us. We had a lot to talk about and the conversation never dulled. It felt like we had been friends for a long time, although this is really the first time I had met the both of you. Like I told you, I drove leisurely on the way there looking for places to stop and enjoy the views. The drive back to base was a little more..um, er..spirited! LOL

So, I hope you guys have a great week and you feel good enough to make the NY GFMPH! Thank you both for a great bonus day!

Bud, I am pulling out in the morning and will get with you on your schedule. And like Bud said, any others in the area that would like to join, please do so.

rob - you are quite correct, while I enjoy e-mail, phone, and forum contact with my brothers and sisters here at hw, its never the same as when one is fortunate enough to meet in person. that mutual bond of PC just ties us together in a unique way. i feel the same way, when i meet a stranger that also happens to be another viet-nam vet, there is just that natural bond. i am thankful for my friends here.

bud - star and i discussed rv parks in your area, and while i was prejiduced for the KOA in Harper's Ferry, having spent 2 vacations there, the park you mention is a more convenient location for your visit. We also stayed there way back when, when we were moving from NH to SC. It was easy to get to.

star, it was a pleasure to meet you, as i mentioned to you, i am not a social magnet by nature, and its hard for me to meet people, and even harder to meet people that can keep my attention. wish we had more time, as there was so much more to talk about, perhaps next time or in NY later. you are most welcomed to visit or stay here, next time you head down south. you came to me as a stranger, and left as a friend, and coming from me, that is a genuine compliment.

i must admit, the pain meds i took while there took care of most of that problem, but the time we spent outside was really getting to me, the heat part, i had to run one errand after we parted, and when i got home, i crashed for 1 1/2 hours before my wife got home. that's just how i am effected by the heat.

glad you had a safe trip back to TN, and i know you are looking forward to hooking up with bud and company in DC.

thanks for making my day, and i appreciate the effort you went through just to meet San Carlos and I and the distance you drove to do so. have all the fun you can stand as you journey forward in that big, beautiful Class "A".

I am so pleased that you guys were able to visit. There is nothing quite like getting to talk face to face and have some laughs at the same time.

It was a very great time, Jeff. Most of my dreary days just run one into the next, with little variation. It was good to have the live company of two great PC brothers. Feel like we are really united in our common cause.

So glad you guys got to all meet yesterday, it is amazing how this terrible beast we all fight can bring some of us together and make friendships that will last a lifetime. GFMPH is so much more than an acronym now it is a spirit and lifestyle for so many of us here.

Hope to meet David in NY.  Just 2 months to go for GFMPH Yankee Style.

Terry, hoping to meet you and some of the guys I haven't met, as I mentioned to Star yesterday, my decision is so iffy depending on my condition as we near the date, so any arrangements for me will be last minute, like a week away probably.

Hey Purg,

Glad you folks got together. I was able to see Biker (Jim) and his wonderful wife in June. We had Chinese dinner and had a great time.

Face-to-face meetings help all of us.

thanks, michael, been following the face book journey too, must admit, have a tinge of honest jealousy, not that i could take being on the road that much right now. feel like sonny is our HW ambassador on the road.

anytime i meet a brother from here in person, i consider myself blessed, it adds such an amazing element to our relationships here.

It's so nice when I hear of folks from the forum meeting together!  Glad you guys had such a good time!  David, I really hope you'll be up to attending  GFMPH Yankee Style gathering!

Hope Ron is doing better, at least better than expected at this point.

Wife and I are still up for coming to NY, but final decision will have to cut it close, so easy to loses air tickets if not used, this happened once to me already. But she would like to come along as well.

Purg, I hope you make it also. I just had another meet with Raddad and Phenom just outside Washington DC. They met me at my coach and then we went to a Mexican Restaurant. LOL, when I left San Antonio I was afraid I wouldn't get to eat good Mexican food. Man was I wrong, it was GREAT! So we came back to the coach and visited a little while and then said our goodbye's until NY GFMPH. We gave Phenom a personal invite and he might come. Another great meet with very nice and fun members. This has been a fun trip, thanks to the great members taking time to meet with me. Thanks guys!

Glad your get together with Bud went so well,but I fully expected it. Gee, you are one likeable kind of guy.

Already schemeing things like we talked on the phone when you head back south eventually. Joint RVing, and getting the sailboat on the lake, etc.
