My journey has been one disappointment after another, as my PC has proven to be pretty aggressive. After so many disappointments, most recently my last PSA which seemed to indicate that my PSA nadir after HT was .29 , wHich as many of you know is not low enough after HT. So when I gave blood on Monday I fully expected to see a rise, and Therefore to begin to think about the next phase of treatment

So convinced was I of this that I didn't call for my results, figuring I would wait a few days. Low and behold, my doc called me ........ O.06. I am happily shocked. Don't know yet whether I will take an ht break after my 7 months are up in October, but at least it's now in the conversation. I see the oncologist in another week and will discuss

That is great news KF and no need to say what the next target is.

I don't know too much about HT, only what I've read on here so I have a question.

What are the expectations when you stop taking HT, would you be expecting an undetectable PSA and staying there? If after stopping and PSA starts to rise, what other options are there?

Hope you get good news at your Oncologist meeting.

That is great news. Not sure I would jump off HT so quickly. Some of the docs specializing in PCa want you to reach an undectatable nadir and keep it there for 6-12 months before coming of.

Kf--ask your Dr about 2-3 years of lupron...that's what I'm on after radiation for t3a Gleason 8 w/Ece.PDA@.1 is undetectable--kill it now while it's working..my view and my oncologist's..good luck. Bill

Congratulations on the PSA score. It's nice to see a HealingWell guy catch a break.

Thats great news. I'm looking for some myself as I'm going for my first psa test in the morning after 30 days of casodex and lupron. It raises an interesting question in what should a low psa be with prostate intact vs without. Also, it seems that one could have fluctuations due to infection from time to time that could alter psa.

So glad to hear the good news with your low PSA numbers.

Just to share my husbands  stats. he has been on HT since Feb-2012 with all <.01 PSA readings and plans on 1 more injection of Lupron in Dec. We have not had ultra-senitive tests but convinced our Dr. to do that before our next shot... Don't really know if it is necessary but some guys say that you need a reading or Nadir of at least .05 for 3 consectutive PSA readings before you can say the HT is working.

Any thoughts or discussions with your Dr. about that?

At any rate keep the numbers tumbleing and stay positive.

gongrats faith...keep up the good numbers....I get to go see my Onco and Uro tommorrow for my 6 month PSA test..hoping for a zero.

Thanks for all the thoughts and the questions. I hate being on ht but suddenly I'm not too sure I want to go off so quickly. It seems like this is a very very gray area. Does intermittent ht delay refractory? Some studies say yes, but I already have Mets, and some studies say a longer stint (or continuous HT) gives one the best odds if you already have Mets.. I am very unsure of where to go from here. It will be a very interesting discussion with my oncologist(petrylak, formerly at Columbia, now at Yale). Plan originally was to do another f18 bone scan in November and see if the bone Mets are still there. I presume that will still be the plan , but I will have to wait and see. Until then.....Pinot noir for everyone in the bar

I'm ecstatic to hear of the continued drop. Any good news announced is good for you and "us". I'm waiting to start Ht (need some scans first) and feel my future is questionable... so when there is good news CELEBRATE IT! It lifts my spirit too. So maybe it is a little selfish to hear of things going well for others... but hey it helps me Keep My Faith.

Congrats ... nice to see things looking brighter. You might want to talk to your doc about adding one of the newer stronger HT drugs like Zytiga or MDV3100 -- keep it on the run! God bless.
