Hello, thank you and goodbye

I've been lurking here a few weeks. I want to thank all contributors for helping me understand this disease. My husband is 46 and has G6 with 40% involvement. His last PSA was 8.2 He's opting for open surgery because the best surgeon here does open. We came to this decision thanks to many consultations and much reading here. I will not be participating here because of what I consider to be the only fault with this site. There are some downright nasty and antisocial people here such as (member name removed - 142) that create a very argumentative environment. It's a shame a few bad apples can ruin such a wonderful concept. If there was a way to ignore people it would be another story. I thank almost all of you and please say a prayer for my husband.

Good luck to your husband, hope all goes well. I don't participate in many of the discussions here, but I read a lot of them. I actually enjoy the "spirited" exchanges, and think most every opinion has some value.

There is a way to ignore people, just remember the root word of ignorance is ignore. Just saying. BTW there is zero, Zip, nothing wrong about "lurking", where the "imparted shame" from that came from is anyones guess. My guess is " they did it " Who are they? The backside of us!

Forum participation isn't for everyone. But if that's the only reason you have for not participating I think it's a mistake. I rub some the wrong way and there a few that rub me the wrong way. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't learn something from their perspective, experience and feelings. This is new to all of us and dealing with it never gets old.

Like Purg said there is an ignore button, But now that you're dealing with this beast you can probably also realize that there is no point in sweating the small stuff.

Many people here have had open surgery with great success. What is critical is the experience of your surgeon if you do decide to go down that road. Your doctors might want to discuss other options with you also. Regardless, with those stats it should be a relatively easy road and your husband should be fine long term. I just found out today my accountant had open surgery 17 years ago!

Good luck and remember to always communicate with your husband. Don;t let him shut down. He will probably go through depression and stress now. I'm still depressed and stressed and according to most have no reason to be.

Not gonna lie dave I smell a troll myself....was just tryin to be PC. I think we have a old poster who dislikes (member name removed - 142) and started a new alias to talk some smack.

I have zero respect for a one time poster that comes in and flames a long time contributor. Good riddance.

why would you say that, goodlife? what does POM have to do with this poster? i thought it was an odd first time post, but gave the best answer. the ignore feature is not obvious here, especially to someone new.

142 - i dont know how this works, but when someone signs up, doesnt it trigger their ISP number or whatever its called? if it was a current member, wouldnt their number show up twice?

on the other hand, the poster might have simply being very honest, that has to be taken into consideration. i am sure they, assuming its real, are horrified to see all the bickering and child like behaviour at our site lately, sure it would scare some from joining at all.

maybe but i think it's bad form to let posters "sign out" especially a first-time poster who trashes a respected forum member who we know actually has/had prostate cancer.  that post should have been locked and deleted.

but then again the forum is condoning troll posts these days too so it'll probably just get weirder and weirder.

I consider that the OP may be stating their real opinion. If they are fake, all of this simply feeds the fire, and accomplishes exactly what they want.
