B-Man
9 yrs. after biopsies decided I wanted to get possession of my slides, and so started down that path and easily got them, they are your property but held by 'them'. So, not only did I obtain them and visually look them over, my doc hooked me up with a local pathologist and we got to see them under a dual microscope and I got a free Pathology 101 course (LOL). Even better the nice guy pathologist, took photographs via microscope and put them on USB memory stick and not only can I share them, I have them posted on yananow.org for the world to see. I have samples showing Gleason 8, 9 and PNI. By the way PNI is actually easy for a layperson to identify once you know the simplistic differentials.
So, if you are curious I will get you the weblink directly to it.
INFO on slides:
1) glass slides like you see in labs from high school, typical stuff (sealed in some type of wax)
2) plastic cover thingy used on top slide for protection (scratches etc.) and better viewing somehow
3) if you have 12 biopsies you will have 6 slides, they share the slides into using halves in effect 50/50
4) some how your biopsy the thickness of a hair, is split down the middle and halved, so on the slide you will see in effect 4 such samples in total
5) these slides stay good so called forever (if stored properly)
6) I got two containers, that slides, slid into for storage with lock tops
Good luck if you get info on slides, share it!!
