very sad news

I am sorry to post this but I thought you would want to know on January 8th at 8:27 am my husband passed away (on my birthday). Don't be sad for me he is in a better place now he died in our home and i was holding his hand just like i promised i would. He fought hard he went down the day after Christmas and just got worse from there he was in a coma for 3 days and in that time I talked to him about all the things we enjoyed together and the memories we shared his 2nd night in a coma as i was laying down to sleep my sister in law turned off the light and closed the door I rolled over to face my husband him in the hospital bed and me in a twin beside him I said good night baby I love you and as clear as day he said I love you too:) scared me for a minute so jumped up and turned on the light thinking he was awake but he wasn't i didn't sleep again til he passed the next day . they say the hearing is the last to go and i believe that ....and know that he heard everything I said I want to say thanks again for all you love and support I wish all of you the best and will always pray for a cure for cancer

Well, I guess my HT emotion had to show up eventually. I don't know if the tear is caused by the fact that he has gone, you are without him, or happiness that he is in a better place. Probably all of the above. I know you and your family will miss him, but the good memories remain, and he is not suffering.

I believe that he did speak to you. I was visiting a friend in hospice close to the end. His family was around crying and talking about how bad he was. He squeezed my hand, opened his eyes, and said "Tell them to stop all that, I'll be fine". He didn't talk to anyone else again -

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Yes, he is in a better place now and he will be waiting for you to join him in Heaven -- hopefully many years from now.

July 2011 local PSA lab reading 6.41 (from 4.1 in 2009). Mayo Clinic PSA Sept. 2011 was 5.7.
Local urologist DRE revealed significant BPH, but no lumps.
PCa Dx Aug. 2011 at age of 61.
Biopsy revealed adenocarcinoma in 3 of 20 cores (one 5%, two 20%). T2C.
Gleason score 3+3=6.
CT of abdomen, bone scan both negative.
DaVinci prostatectomy 11/1/11 at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN), nerve sparing, age 62.
My surgeon was Dr. Matthew Tollefson, who I highly recommend.
Final pathology shows tumor confined to prostate.
5 lymph nodes, seminal vesicles, extraprostatic soft tissue all negative.
1.0 x 0.6 x 0.6 cm mass involving right posterior inferior,
right posterior apex & left mid posterior prostate. Right
posterior apex margin involved by tumor over a 0.2 cm length, doctor says this is insignificant.
Prostate 98.3 grams, tumor 2 grams. Prostate size 5.0 x 4.7 x 4.5 cm.
Catheter out in 7 days. No incontinence, occasional minor dripping.
First post-op exam 2/13/12, PSA <0.1.
Semi-erections now happening 14 months post-op.

Chrissy - thanks for having the courage to post during this time; as you have seen, and will continue to see, the brother/sister-hood is with you both in a very personal way. It is very difficult to sit here and read about the loss of a brother and also what you and your family are now going through. While there is nothing that can be said that will help much - please accept my sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers. I believe the Lord was with you both on that last evening and participating in that last very touching, loving moment - so try to find solace in that moment that will last forever.

C.C. - I'm a relatively new poster and don't know your husband's story, but your post certainly touched me. I am sorry for your loss. I'm sure you made his journey so much easier to bear. I think you were so wonderful for him, especially at his transition. May God Bless you and give you comfort.
