I agree knowledge is power, my urologist didn't really tell me anything about
PC, I was diagnosed with Gleason 4+5 and PSA 254. My options for treatment were limited. However, I feel you should be told all the facts about
the cancer, the treatment options and the side effects of the treatment.
For example I was 66 when diagnosed and I was casually asked by the urologist have you finished your family , I said yes we have been married 40 years and the girls are all in their 30's. Because I was in shock with the diagnosis I didn't really take too much notice or ask the reason for his question. Only to find out some couple of months later about
the HT 's side effect of ED.
I think there is a distinct lack of communication from a lot of the Doctors in the Prostate Cancer field, I don't know whether they cannot communicate or they only want to tell you a certain amount and keep you in the dark.
I don't know about overtreatment I didn't have the choice of over treatment because of the stage of my cancer.
