Macular Degeneration

I recently discovered that I have age related macular degeneration. My Opthalmologist suggests a certain vitamin combination that includes Vitamins A, E, C, zinc, copper, and Lutein....oh yeah....and Bovine Gelatin....just ask me what that is. I believe they are called I-Caps.

Anyway, I seem to recall that some vitamins are contraindicated (love these big dr words) for PCa. can anyone shed any light on this for me?

I also have macular degeneration in addition to PCa.

My eye Doc has me on a vitimin called "PreserVision" and knows about my AMG.

No side effects so far.

I am also on the shots in the eye which have saved my right eye.

Make sure you have a Doc that knows what he/she is doing.

I have a similar condition called Branch Retinal Vein Oclusion (BRVO) in my right eye. My doc is OK with Ocuvite and I have to watch the aspirin,o r anything that woud cause bleeding. I get an injection in the eye every three monts or so as needed. There is no cure, just the shots of Lucentis to keep from losing any more sight.

If you are ever faced with shots int he eye, do not accept Avastin. It presents too great a probability of infection which is certain blindness. My doc uses Lucentis and participated in the trials or Eyelia which just came out. Most insurance doesn't yet cover Eyelia, though it is reported that it will allow for a longer time between shots. They are stressful, to say the least.
